SAPHRA MORE ANNOUNCES SECOND SINGLE ‘FLIRTING LIKE THAT’ OUT TOMORROW SEPTEMBER 12

Melbourne artist Saphra More has announced her second single Flirting Like That. Looking to build on the success of her debut single That Girl Is Poison (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yr6aKGl6Ss), which achieved just under 1,000 streams.

Flirting Like That sees Saphra More continue to develop her unique mix of Rnb, rock and pop.

The song was brought into being as Saphra More watched a friend struggle with a guy who would alternate between incessant flirting with her and subjecting her to long periods of ghosting. Saphra More decided that the best way she could help her mate would be to write her a track about validation and catharsis in equal measure.

The production of Bean Recordings makes the most of her smooth voice, giving it lots of space to shine. The vocal layering throughout the track adds some variation and fleshes out the stylistic influences. The instrumentation begins as a simple acoustic guitar melody before expanding into a huge sounding pop-rock chorus, reminiscent of early Maroon 5. The bridge sends the track further into rock territory and allows Saphra More lots of room to showcase her vocal stylings, layering several soulful performances over each other to evoke the tension inherent to the subject matter.

Flirting Like That will be available on streaming platforms on Saturday the 12th of September!

ABOUT SAPHRA MORE

Saphra More is the alter-ego of Sabrina Lim-How, a singer-songwriter based in Melbourne’s South-Eastern suburbs. She blends together a lively mixture of RnB and rock, tinged with pop sensibilities. Saphra More draws upon the collected stories of herself and others to inspire songs which are rooted in truth. These truths are used to shine a light into the darkness of the human experience and construct something beautiful.

Before entering the role of Saphra More, Lim-How spent her childhood surrounded by music. Her Dad was a lifelong musician and record collector. Her house was full of the sounds of Queen, Deep Purple, Chet Atkins, Tina Arena and Stevie Wonder. Her Dad’s passion for music proved to be contagious and it in turn ignited her own passion for song. He encouraged her to play the piano, which Lim-How excelled at, but she always had her heart set on his guitar. Lim-How earned her chops performing with her Dad each week of her childhood at open mic nights in Dandenong. It was there that she connected with different musicians and gained mastery of her voice and her musical skills.

Saphra More’s approach to music combines her live music background with her appreciation of the songwriting of her influences. The rhythmic drive and volume of rock is fused with Saphra More’s strong vocals, which are soaked in the traditions of RnB sounding confident, expressive and full of attitude. These energetic instrumental and vocal styles serve as the vehicle that Saphra More uses to deliver her deliberately crafted songs. She draws on the catchy hooks of pop and the appeal to common experiences to bend the conventions of the genre to reflect her own unique musical taste.

Saphra More released her debut single, That Girl Is Poison, in July and since then the track has accrues just under 1,000 streams. That Girl Is Poison marked her return to writing after a hiatus. The song started to take shape when she picked up a guitar after listening to Tori Kelly and the Arctic Monkeys. The song had a 3 year lifespan as a solo acoustic track until was recorded and produced by Bean Productions.
