PRAISE FOR SUPATHICK

“Dipped in disco sugar and nothing but vibe.”
Triple J, Claire Mooney

“Blending some throwback energy with a futuristic twist of disco and funk, and it had me moving from start to finish. Truthful hips all round!”
Triple J, Declan Byrne

“If 2020 was an introductory year to the super group, then 2021 is the year where they showcase exactly why they're an act so worth paying attention to… A glitzy, late-night blend of funk, disco and R&B that really excels with their esteemed craft and skill”
Hayden Davies, Pilerats

Supathick is back, baby.

The Perth group have been mainstays of the WA music community and in the last year, have been breaking out onto radars of their eastern state cousins with their fired up brand of funk and disco-leaning pop. It’s music that has always paid great respect to the artists who pioneered these sonic movements, without losing any contemporary edge. And, it’s music that makes you wanna dance.

Today, Supathick announces the latest in their string of glossy, dancefloor ready jams, the effervescent ‘Time’. Featuring guest vocals from Keely Brittain, ‘Time’ is the perfect Supathick vibe to bring the band into a new chapter for 2021, as more audiences around the country get set to see them perform.

The track, conceptualised by guitarist and songwriter Christian Zappia back in 2019, was recorded at Perth’s Tone City Recordings with Sam Ford (POND, Abbe May). The sound of ‘Time’ is an immersive one, with lyrics steeped in romanticism that never veers into sugary territory, artfully combining the disco & R&B vibes the band is now well known for.

“I think the song can be interpreted a few ways, but I always come back to the different feelings you can go through when you really have to wait for someone - even if you don’t realise you’re waiting for them.” Christian Zappia, SUPATHICK

Since the release of the band’s debut EP Dinner And A Film, in August 2020, Supathick have been building consistently out on the West Coast - developing their band dynamic into a formidable force. Built on shared experiences in the worlds of jazz, hip hop and electro music, the Supathick sound is one that can’t be pigeon holed. Beautiful sounds and textures weave with ease, a testament to this band’s songwriting and performance talent.

Between the band members, there exists years of experience from across the Perth scene: bassist Marley Donnan-Cook and keys player Joshua Chan coming from Demon Days, Zappia and drummer Josh Wright from Wooly Mammoth, percussionist Regan Dale from Almond Soy. Since Supathick’s inception, their presence has been growing quickly, accumulating over 100,000 streams for their 2021 single ‘July’ alone and drumming up sold out gigs at home too.

Throughout May and June, Supathick will be touring nationally with fellow WA legends, Great Gable. Understandably, they’re ready.

“We’ll be hitting the road this Autumn, and the fact that we get to do so supporting our mates Great Gable in this climate makes it all the sweeter. We can’t wait to get onto some east coast stages, hopefully everyone’s ready to get down with the Thickness.” - SUPATHICK
