Today, Perth outfit smol fish share their latest single 'Like A Lemon'. The new single harnesses the signature charm and honesty that smol fish have woven into their previous releases, swirling it together with some delicate, pulsing drum beats. 'Like A Lemon' is taken from their forthcoming debut EP, set to be released in August 2021.

On the single, Clancy of smol fish details, 'The song is about the thoughts on loop in the week of my 20th birthday! I’d just gotten home from New York and learned that not everyone is nice but ultimately it’s their issue not mine (sorry that you’re, so damn sour). I also kept saying “it’s my birthday” to my partner and family so they would do nice things and they were like... it’s literally not your birthday. It doesn’t last a whole week, turning 20 is lame. Having just been to the Brooklyn Museum, I was thinking a lot about the universe and realised how I felt this awe and connection with the stars and the moon. The idea that everything was created by the Big Bang seemed super romantic to me and it felt cute that an exploding star had created me and all my friends and our world.'

smol fish was originally the solo project and musical journal of singer-songwriter Clancy Davidson. In late 2018 the project enhanced into a full band setup. Their songs are cute and upbeat, expressing themes of love, loneliness, naivety, friendship and the mundane struggles of everyday life. Their previous singles 'Cry All The Time' and 'Sad Girl Summer' garnered acclaim from the likes of triple j, triple j Unearthed and RTRFM. Smol Fish have supported artist such as Spacey Jane, Noah Dillon, Demon Days and Jack Davies and the Bush Chooks. smol fish have made a splash in 2021 with the release of 'Sad Girl Summer' alongside their latest single 'Like A Lemon'. The band will be sharing their debut EP in the coming months.
