Today, Melbourne-based multidisciplinary artist Dugong Jr shares his new EP Polite, out via Moving Castle. Featuring previous singles 'Ceramic (feat. IJALE)' and 'Love Lost (feat. Blush'ko)', the body of work fuses Dugong Jr's cool, refined production with a fresh edge. The 8-track EP sees Dugong team up with the likes of IJALE, Blush'ko and Jezzabell Doran to bring his vision to life.
Speaking on the release, Dugong Jr details; 'This EP is about my experiences growing up in Australia with a Chinese/Malaysian background. I generally felt that a polite demeanour was both expected and tolerated. From a young age I understood that a way for me to stand out was through my artwork. Without having to be the loudest in the room, It was a polite way for me to not only have my voice heard, but have people reflect on themselves. The Polite EP is a journey strained spiritualism, contemporary surrealism and reclaimed identity. To me it represents both a maturing of my art and music, and myself.'
Coinciding with the release of Polite EP and merging the lines between his work as an art director and musician, Dugong Jr will also be releasing a series of collaborative NFT’s (non-fungible tokens) with long-time friend and collaborator Nickeays. Fusing elements of the Chinese zodiac, Dugong Jr’s debut digital collection is a journey of reclaimed identity, strained spiritualism and contemporary surrealism.

Derived from a strong connection between DIY and eclectic innovation, Dugong Jr flaunts a unique genre bending take on songwriting & production, underpinned with a strong focus on electronic music. The Chinese/Australian multidisciplinary creative and art school graduate is perpetually challenging his own perceptions between visual and audio representation, while carving out his own niche both locally and internationally. Dugong Jr founded Studio Dugong in 2016, an outlet for visually driven concepts and projects, where he has helped to cultivate visual identities and design languages for clients such as Majestic Casual, CC Disco, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and many more.
Having amassed streams in the tens of millions, the young artist has also showcased his live show on some of Australia's biggest stages including Splendour In The Grass and Groovin’ The Moo. Keeping himself busy in 2020, Dugong Jr released his highly anticipated EP Pleasure Principle. The record, which saw support from tastemakers COLORS, Triple J, Run The Trapand BBC 1Xtra, featured some of Australia's most promising up and coming artists, including Melbourne rapper Jordan Dennis and Kult Kyss vocalist Rromarin.
