Sammm. just released his dreamy indie-rock single 'Four Eyes' (July 24) and to pair with the melancholic and lucid tones of the track he is releasing a deep insight into his past with this chilling documentary-like music video (content warning: discussion of drug use).

'Four Eyes' is littered with bruised optimism - filled with pain, this angsty yet elegant track sets a gloomy tone that is contrasted by an upbeat sensation. 

Aligning with the ominous nature of the track, the clip opens up wounds in a powerful and very real reflection on Samuel Geddes late-teenage years where he struggled with substance abuse.

With shots portraying both his lighter and darker sides, the ominous clip journeys from key locations of his youth – from his apartment during that time to the infamous Biala Centre in Brisbane city [alchol and drug treatment service] – as the track plays over subtitles of Geddes reflecting on his battle with addiction, double life, homelessness and hospitalisation.

After only scratching the surface on his journey, the clip concludes with shots of Sam's expressing the following: 

"I was at war with what was going on inside. Writing music helps me create little reminders for myself, to not step back into the darkness. 'Four Eyes' was written from a stance of reflection and growth".

Despite the haunting reality of his journey, the power in this short-documentary music clip is that Geddes has found his feet and heals by reflecting on his past and writing music to express this - leading the way for many who are struggling with addiction.  

For many, this may be an unfamiliar world. Others will have stories of their own substance abuse and have too found their own way out like Geddes, but there are still people out there living with substance abuse every day who require help and support networks.
