"When you can have closed loops sites on a site, it makes a difference.  When you can have water stations, it makes a difference. And they aren’t necessarily a ‘solve the world’ thing, but that’s where I think that net-positive theme comes back for me that’s like at least do what is easy and just keep getting better and better. If we try and go “we need to do it perfectly” it won’t happen. It’s just not a perfect thing right now.

"But if you can bring people together, you can explore ideas together on stage and in the crowd. People can learn about environmental stuff, people can leave with wanting to pursue their dreams more, with being kind to each other, with caring a little more. That has an effect. And who knows how far and wide people from the crowd can take that and can effect people in their community or just in their family."

Today Jack River marks the sixth and final episode of the Sounds of Change series of the To Rebel In The Times podcast. On Episode 6, which has launched this morning, Ziggy Alberts joins Jack River for an inspiring conversation on the impact we as humans, and in particular touring musicians, are having on the planet. They discuss the amazing and impassioned work he and his team are doing to try and help minimise their environmental impact, success in relation to values and morals and the power of saying no. Tune into episode 6 now.

Across six weeks and six episodes Jack River has invited six prominent artists from across the world to discuss social, environmental, cultural and political issues closest and most important to them. To Rebel In The Times has seen Jack River has create a platform for artists and change-makers to speak about their most important work, their passions, stories and inspirations without judgement or prejudice.

Episode 1 launched Series 1 Sounds of Change on Wednesday 1 July with Cub Sport’s Tim Nelson discussing falling in love and the demolition of gender constructs. The incredibly honest and candid discussion shone a light on the importance of being true to yourself and taking a leap of faith. Check out their follow up live Questions & Answer here

On Episode 2 Jack River and Alaskan musician and activist John Gourley (frontman of Portugal. The Man) go deep on Indigenous Land Rights - a topic incredibly important to Jack River, John Gourley and society as a whole! The conversation is a revealing insight into how much more we could be doing to conserve and protect Indigenous cultures throughout the world.

Episode 3 saw the wonderful Kita Alexander take to the the mic for a beautifully honest conversation about motherhood in the music industry. The two artists discussed a call for more mothers and females in executive positions within the industry to allow for a broader perspective. The episode piqued the interest of a number of high-profile women including triple j's Bridget Hustwaite and the inspiring Turia Pitt. The two artists took to Russh's Instagram for an In Conversation follow-up - catch it here if you missed it.

Episode 4 invited us to dive into the brilliant mind of one of Australian music's biggest change-makers, the incredible Briggs. Last week on Episode 5 we were offered an incredibly insightful look into the marvellous mind of one of Australian music's most intriguing and important voices - Alex The Astronaut. Alex and Jack River discussed everything from politics, sexuality, human impact, music and the importance of finding authenticity in a very public world. Alex's music cleverly calls out the wrongs of society, bravely shining a spotlight on issues that she strongly believes deserve to be noticed.
