ANNOUNCING COALESCE RECORDS FEATURING: COOKII, HEARTEYES, LONELYSPECK
Today, we introduce Coalesce Records, a new label welcoming a new era of music in Australia, and announce the first three signings: cookii, Hearteyes and Lonelyspeck.
With Coalesce, we are intent on fostering a community of artists who span genres but share a core commonality. We’ve witnessed a scene built around music that sits at the fringes, a punk-like ethos that has moved from suburban garages to cracked-Ableton software in bedrooms. Coalesce represents abrasive textures, classic pop sensibilities and high-level production, whether that be reflected through hyperpop, punk or electronica. Music that sounds equally at home in a DIY club venue or ricocheting off the brick walls of an abandoned warehouse.
Today's artist signings no better illustrate that - the glossy PC-adjacent tones of cookii, the morphing, hyperreal pop sounds of Lonelyspeck, to the genre-warping distortion of Hearteyes. These artists have been influencing the sonic fabric of Australia's music culture from the underground, having already worked with daine, Charli XCX, Andy Polk, 8485, Allday and many more. We have loved watching their journey across the music landscape so far - some of us following even closer from Good Manners HQ - and simply can’t wait to share what they’ve been working on.

About cookii
Having burst onto the scene with the acclaimed singles ‘coca cola’ and ‘love yourself (spend forever)’, the enigma that is cookii quickly enraptured audiences worldwide. Melting bright, futuristic pop sounds with y2k pop-punk sensibilities and glitchy experimentation, cookii’s broad influences and multidisciplinary artistic vision created a project that thrived while shrouded in mystery. The release of blossom at the end of 2020 consolidated this, an eight-track mixtape which flexed each different facet of cookii’s sonic world. With four tracks featuring simultaneously on Spotify’s hyperpop playlist and amassing international acclaim from The Line of Best Fit, PAPER and NYLON, 2021 promises to see cookii’s unstoppable run continue, with a bank of new music - and other secrets - revealed soon.
About Hearteyes
Hearteyes is the pseudonym of Sydney-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Maurice Santiago. Having a long history traversing the Australian underground music-scape from playing in punk bands to producing house music to hard-style, Santiago is a musical tour-de-force who thrives on dejection, anger and melancholy. Releasing a handful of acclaimed mixtapes and projects within the Australian underground over the last year and a half, Hearteyes constantly pushes the boundaries of what is considered appropriate in the sphere of artistry; denying the notion that brand and music are one in the same, but rather should be criticised and manipulated.
About Lonelyspeck
Lonelyspeck is the project of Adelaide-based singer, songwriter, producer and visual artist Sione Teumohenga. Freely yet cohesively mixing eclectic styles, their distinctive sonic palette emphasises a morphing, hyperreal sense of space and texture while remaining grounded in a strong pop sensibility. 2019 saw the release of their incredible EP Abyssal Body, a project that freely brought together musical influences from various stages of Sione’s life, from 2000s alternative rock to futuristic pop.
