SINGLE REVIEW: BELLHOP - PET BOTTLE
Hailing from Frankston, siblings Harry and Bella make up Bellhop, a fuzzy rock duo, who have recently released their first single of the year, Pet Bottle, on April 20.
The track begins with a somewhat restrained riff that’s noticeably spacey, immediately transporting the listener to the world of Bellhop. The sustained beginning captures your interest and begins to hold your attention, much like that feeling when you’re at the bar and hear the start of a good song and you just have to come rushing back into the band room! We get a crunchy phaser tone and then are tossed into a world of heavy distortion and feedback as the song really takes its place in your ears.
I get a massive King Gizz feel from this track as we are thrown into the digital mosh pit with that super solid riff. The loud, in your face lyrics, accompanied by the singer’s passion really shines through, and I just can’t help but imagine that this is absolutely epic live!
And it has a breakdown! Who doesn’t love a breakdown?! Yet another component that would be incredible live. The song follows through with solid bass lines, a super sharp, raging delay on the vocals and magnificent drum tracks!
Self-described as those who produce ‘yummy tunes’, Pet Bottle is another wonderful addition to the Bellhop discography, and it certainly is delicious! I’m keen to hear more.
