JAY GONSALVES PREMIERS NEW SONG ‘21’ST CENTURY LOVE STORY’

Just out of Melbourne’s lockdown, Jay was set to fly home to Adelaide to see his family for the first time in a year. He thought about how much had changed in the year that had been and was nervous about returning to the place that held much of his emotional baggage.

The night before his flight, Jay wrote ‘21st Century Love Story’ in an effort to unpack some of this baggage and to help him understand a bit more about himself.

‘21st Century Love Story’ combines the thick bass and punchy percussion found in Future House music with the melody and lyricism of Alternative Pop. This all comes through a vintage lens with a sound texture similar to the audio from a VHS recording.

The process of writing this song helped Jay to understand that it is okay to feel like you don’t know yourself or to have personal struggles, as this is part of being human. When speaking about his new single ‘21st Century Love Story’, Jay states “I just hope that it tells people that they’re not alone in whatever situation they are going through”.
