WILL HYDE LAUNCHES ONTO THE POP SCENE WITH BREAKOUT HIT ‘EASY FOR U.’
Melbourne based artist will hyde has burst onto the low-fi pop scene with single “easy for u.”. With crisp production, gorgeous vocals and lyrical authenticity on par with stars like Dominic Fike and Rex Orange County, the single is an addictively melodic, catchy pop hit that immediately marks the 20 year old as one to watch.
“‘easy for u.’ is a song about giving more in a relationship than you’re getting back,” said Will. “It’s reaching a point of awareness where you can finally see how you really stand with another person - awareness I think is the most important thing when it comes to anything… life, relationships, friendships. I wanted to write a song about reaching that point of clarity, it doesn’t mean anything has to change, I find that realisation powerful. Sometimes we run into things that we don’t know how to deal with so we mask it with alcohol, pills--anything we can do to try and run away from the past. It’s tough to be a part of a relationship where you are slowly watching a person fade, or losing a part of yourself, because of it."
As a teenager in a producer duo project SŸDE, Will found early success to the tune of over 65 million streams and nearly 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, including praise from triple j (including being 2017 Unearthed High finalists). However, as SŸDE’s profile rose so did Will’s detachment from the commercial beats behind his name. Fortunately, taking the risk to leave behind a fracturing relationship with his musical partner and bring SŸDE to a standstill would have its own rewards.
Now writing and performing his own music and no longer just producing, will hyde is finally able to flaunt his boisterous personality in a solo project that glides beyond genre or hype. His new music shines with texture and a relatable balance of joy and melancholy that his older production couldn’t evoke on its own.
He is also confirmed to be working alongside Creative Director Stefan Kohli, who is the creative mastermind behind Jeremy Zucker, and has previously worked with Mac Miller, Ariana Grande, LANY, Lauv, Trippie Redd, Iann Dior, Offset and more.
At the tender age of 20, will hyde’s music tells a story of metamorphosis and being open with oneself, amid a distinguishing self-awareness that speaks to youth around the world. His new project is the diary entry of a person whose greatest inspiration has been trusting the process, and now finally recognises himself in the mirror.
