TINY LITTLE HOUSES ANNOUNCE MEL & SYD HEADLINE SHOWS
In celebration of their new single ‘Car Crash’, Melbourne’s Tiny Little Houses have announced their first headline shows in three years, playing to fans in Sydney on Thursday 3 June at the Lansdowne Hotel before returning to the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on Thursday 10 June.
It’s been a long wait for diehard TLH fans, who last saw the band perform their own run of shows as part of their 2018 Idiot Proverbs album tour, which included sold-out venues across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
‘Car Crash’, released one week ago, is a raucous, lyrically introspective burst of jangly energy as crucial and immediate as the band’s previous radio hits ‘Garbage Bin’ and ‘Entitled Generation’. Premiered by Richard Kingsmill on triple j’s 2021, the track has been embraced by the likes of NME (“a punchy, anthemic fuzz-rocker”), Backseat Mafia (“a terrific humour-infused number with all the bottled up energy from a year burdened by lockdowns”) and streaming services, with huge support from Spotify (both ANZ & USA), Apple Music & more.

The accompanying video sees the return of the band’s much-loved colourful & wry aesthetic - in this case, navigating a world controlled by a twisted television host. Of the clip, Director Michael Ridley said, “When we were first coming up with the concept for the clip, we all had similar ideas of wanting to bring the image of the band in a crashing car to life, but I always like to see if things can be taken that extra step further into absurdity.”
In late 2020, TLH broke their two-and-a-half-year hiatus and released the single ‘Richard Cory’, the first new music from the four-piece since their acclaimed debut album, Idiot Proverbs. Met with rave reviews, Richard Cory was inspired by the classic poem of the same title, the song, an emotional force, complete with heart-wrenching lyrics, surging guitars and of course, Karvountzis’s distinct vocals.
Featuring radio hits such as their slacker-anthem ‘Garbage Bin’, ‘Entitled Generation’ and ‘Short Hair’, TLH’s debut record Idiot Proverbs - triple j feature album - was released in January 2018. Idiot Proverbs follow the band’s first two EPs - You Tore Out My Heart(2015) and Snow Globe (2016).
