SYDNEY PRODUCER LO’99 LAUNCHES COLLABORATIVE LIVE STUDIO SESSION & TRACK ‘THE MEGA COLLAB’
With live gigs, social gatherings and typical studio sessions all on pause for who knows how long, Sydney-based producer LO’99 hasn’t let a global pandemic stand in the way of creating and connecting with his fans and peers. LO’99, best known for tracks like ‘Sometime’ with Owl Eyes, ‘Bizness’ and his official remix for Peking Duk & Aluna George’s ‘Fake Magic’, LO’99 has launched a mass-participatory collaboration to create a one-off track via live-streaming service Twitch which will be officially released once completed.
Starting last Thursday 9 April and continuing this Thursday 16 April at 4pm AEST (Wednesday 15 April at 11pm LA) LO’99 invites anyone and everyone to tune in to watch and/or contribute their own input to the track’s creation for what will undoubtedly become one of the most collaborative tracks this Autumn. Sessions will continue every Thursday at the same time until the banger is complete! The first session saw more than 600 live viewers tune in and over 50 collaborators lend their input after a few social posts by LO.
“I’d been planning to tap into Twitch for ages and when my US tour was cut in half and I found myself in mandatory isolation I thought there was no time like the present. I wanted to find a way to involve anyone and everyone and provide a fun platform to collaborate so I decided to give this a try,” LO says of the experience so far. “I wasn’t even sure we’d get anything off the ground but after the first session my nerves have vanished and I’m proper excited to see where we get this week!”
To tune in and either sit back and watch or be a part of the magic unfolding, follow LO’99 on Twitch here. Those wanting to flex their creativity and contribute to the track can register their interest by emailing lo99megacollab@gmail.com before 3pm AEST on Thursday 16 April (10pm Wednesday LA / 1am Thursday NYC / 6am Thursday LDN).
Aside from providing some entertainment on a potentially boring few hours in isolation, this is an amazing experience for anyone interested in learning how to make electronic music, wanting to get involved in the music industry, or just keen to see what goes on in those late night Ableton sessions. LO also has a bunch of Ableton online store credit to giveaway! The Sydney producer has a whole heap of content coming at you via Twitch including more live studio streams, DJ sets and music exclusives, DJ game tournaments and even some DJ-based stand up!
In further news for the festival and nightclub mainstay (who will return to those places as soon as humanly possible), LO’99 will this Friday release new single ‘Dr Sbaitso’ with Taiki Nulight. LO says of the track, “His name is Dr Sbaitso and he is here to help you dance! Whenever Taiki and I get together on a record it's always a good time, no difference here on this one. Our good doctor is on call and ready for your record box, playlist, live stream, radio show, podcast, DJ mix.. whatever’s clever, hope you dig it :).”
LO’99 has graced the stages of Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival and probably nearly every nightclub you’ve bought a 1am Redbull vodka from. He has been involved in the Australian music scene for over 15 years whether it’s curating and hosting numerous workshops and masterclasses for EMC or working at numerous labels including Medium Rare Recordings which he currently heads up with Benson.
