After releasing their debut single “Every Little Thing” late last year, BoomChild entered the scene with a (forgive me) boom. Moving from bedroom jams to multiple sold out shows over the past 6 months, and scoring support slots for some of Australia’s biggest acts (including Hermitude), the collective bring together elements of RnB, funk and soul, hip-hop, and even electronic music into a dynamic sound unlike any other.
Now comes their next release – “Cold Shoulder”.
The track features the vocal harmonies of future superstars Maina Doe, RISSA and Ms Thandi, along with the infectious horn lines from some of the best session artists in Sydney. Tying this together is the smokey vocals from Rico, smooth bars from Charbel, and auteur arrangements from Sumatra.
“Cold Shoulder” is an epic peek into what the BoomChild collective have been working on in their creative hub ‘the BoomHouse’ which hosts frequent jam sessions, impromptu colabs with special guests, and live streamed performances.

BoomChild is a music collective based in Sydney. Forming through unconventional means, the group of diverse musicians, vocalists, and MC’s met via Instagram through an appreciation of each other’s unique individual styles of music and taste.
Coming from different regions across NSW, their music is reflective of their environments in which they each grew up; bringing together the urban flavour of Sydney’s inner suburbs, mixing with the soulful breeze of Wollongong’s coastal beaches, and the soothing serenity from The Blue Mountains to create a sound that is truly exciting and refreshing in the Australian music scene.
Making music wherever they can - within their bedrooms, in the studio, on the road, and everything in between, BoomChild is comprised of six core members including: rappers and vocalists Charbel and Rico, Finbar on keys, Ben on drums, Riley on bass & James on guitar, and is most importantly just a group of best-friends creating music for the pure love and joy that it can give to people, showing that music really can bring people together.
With touches of RnB, electronic, hip hop, soul and funk infused in their sound - like a love child between Stevie Wonder, Kaytranada and Anderson Paak. – this unstoppable new collaborative group is just getting started.
