“Minibikes can’t miss a beat or, more significantly, a melody. It’s like if Hall and Oates were a vehicle for good.” – Patrick Emery

Melbourne-made, far north Queensland dreamin’ four-piece Minibikes have been soundtracking Australia’s endless summer since the late naughties. Their debut album For Woods or Trail, threw tasty hooks left, right and centre, nestling into the hearts of listeners both at home and abroad. Their first slice since was 2018’s ‘Magic Happens’ – a drowsy dose of warm afternoon sun complete with beach romance and a hint of melancholy. Now, Minibikes are back and are keen to hit the beach ball back up in the air once again with their punchy new track ‘I Can Feel Ya’.

The band’s latest winter denier ‘I Can Feel Ya’ steps the tempo up a notch from ‘Magic Happens’, this time switching out woozy lounge vibes for sharp, driving percussion, funky basslines and self-professed guitar solos to accompany frontman Marcel Borrack’s witty, charismatic dialogue. Conjuring the fluidity and evocative nature of a perfectly placed synth in true Minibikes fashion, ‘I Can Feel Ya’ is dream pop at high noon and the second single to be lifted from the band’s heavily anticipated album Freaky Dreams due for release Friday 12 June through Cheersquad Records & Tapes.

LISTEN TO 'I CAN FEEL YA' HERE

“I Can Feel Ya is about being with someone who understands you, the texture of love which can be unsettling and reassuring at the same time.” – Marcel Borrack

Like their namesake, Minibikes can take you places. Their catchy songs transport you in time - 30 years back and 100 years into the future. With Marcel Borrack on lead vocals and guitar, Libby Chow on keys, Nathan Farrelly on bass and Al Barden on drums, their second album Freaky Dreams promises to do just that. After pushing back the release date, the co-produced and recorded album that sees Borrack team up with dear friend Tim Harvey (Jade Imagine, Gena Rose Bruce) promises to drop in a hopefully post-Covid 2020.

At their most recent gig, Borrack was spray painted with tomato-sauce knocked by a butterfingered fan. As if it was an omen, the Minibikes are taking the good with the bad. Things are going to be sticky for a while, shows have been cancelled, but their music can still reach you and make you feel it when you need it most. ‘I Can Feel Ya’ is probably the closest thing to a tropical iso-escape you’ll get in the foreseeable future. So plug in and drift away.
