Melbourne alternative rock/emo five-piece Reside blasted into 2019 and turned heads with brand new music and a determination that's taken them from strength to strength - and today's announcement proves that hard work really does pay off! Short. Fast. Loud's Josh Merriel revealed on last nights show that Reside are UNIFY Gathering 2020's triple j Unearthed competition winners! Reside will play the festival alongside hardcore legends The Ghost Inside, metalcore heavyweights Architects and Australian favourites in Northlane, Polaris and more!
Unify Gathering will take place at Tarwin Meadows in Gippsland, Victoria and will run from Thursday January 9 to Sunday January 12, showcasing some of the best in the game in rock, metal and punk. Reside's year took them to new heights with the release of their sophomore EP 'The Light That I Found', which they'll now be flaunting on the opening stage of one of Australia's most renowned heavy music festivals.
The Melbourne self-appointed sad boys lead their year with the single "Replace Me" which received high praise from triple j hosts, was immediately added to Spotify playlists New Punk Tracks, The Scene and Rock Out. and recently cracked over 100,000 Spotify streams.
The EP followed shortly after, which soon found its way to the ears of hundreds of thousands of listeners, sold out its launch show at Melbourne's Cherry Bar, provided the band with the opportunity to jump on a national tour with fellow emo sweethearts Eat Your Heart Out and secured Reside spots on tours and local spots for the likes of Palaye Royale (US), Windwaker, Young Lions, The Beautiful Monument, Better Half, Belle Haven, Stateside and Casey (UK)!
Reside's EP generated a lot of buzz, positive feedback and optimism for their future. triple j staff praised their singles (with nothing less than 4-star ratings!) - Declan Byrne says "these guys know how it's done. full stop.", Dave Ruby Howe reviewed "There's a familiarity to their melodic, emo-grunge that'll allow this to slip super easily into your playlist.", Claire Mooney states that "I love everything this track is all about. It's driven with power and good intention." and Dan Condon with a simple "Huge."
