CHRIS LANZON SIGNS TO HUNNYDEW RECORDINGS + SHARES VIRAL COVER OF GOO GOO DOLLS' 'IRIS'

Today we, Hunnydew Recordings, are releasing a cover of the Goo Goo Dolls' ‘Iris’ by Chris Lanzon - we’re also lucky enough to be signing him to the label. 2020 was weird, but it also birthed this new label and ultimately introduced us to Chris, so we're grateful for that. We’ve been listening to his demos for 6 months, the private SoundCloud link has had a good rinse - he’s got a bank of brilliant music up his sleeve. It’s going to be a busy 24 months for him, and he’s also been doing a bit of collaborative work with Nick, so that’s been nice. Hunnydew family n' all.
The reason why we’re releasing ‘Iris’ is because it’s gone pretty wild on Chris’ socials. It slammed past 1 million TikTok plays in about a week and his fanbase has grown rapidly as a result. We’ve put this release together to ultimately serve them, but to also show the wider industry what’s to come from Chris. He produces, mixes and writes all his music and he even shot the visualiser you see alongside the music. He’s a pretty exciting talent, and he’s got a great story to tell - which you'll hear more of on his upcoming EP Far From Perfect in a few months.

We got a few words from Chris too, as you do - 'Iris has always been a song I’ve loved and connected with, especially lyrically. I recently felt inspired to record a stripped back one-take cover of it in my bedroom which I uploaded to YouTube and Soundcloud, without thinking about it too much. People started responding to it really positively and I decided to upload a snippet to TikTok which I’d only started using in the last couple of months. The next morning I woke up and it had over 100k views and thousands of comments from people who were really resonating with my take on the song'
