ChillCheney sets a dark and energetic mood with his new single ‘Laying Low, set to be released on the 20th of October. This single is a defining moment for the young artist, recounting his experiences and vivid thoughts in lockdown.
The young rapper is known for his authentic rap style, combining it with urban freestyling that resonates with his listening audience. ChillCheney’s influences are; Eminem, NF, Gnash, 6lack, Phora, Billie Eilish and Lil Wayne.
The writing process surrounding ‘Laying Low’ has given him an outlet to tell his story through the intricate lyricism. “Without music I would feel lost. I’m not an open person, but through writing this song I have truly expressed my thoughts and shaped a unique style.’’ says ChillCheney.
ChillCheney has been faced with heavy expectations; from family, friends and himself. “I will keep moving, keep hustling, keep working hard, until I reach my goals. I will strive everyday to be a better person”.
ChillCheney has always been inspired by music from early on in his childhood. Listening to 2pac’s song “Changes” had awakened his passion for rap. This formed an outlet for creative expression which has propelled his songwriting to new heights.
