JACK GRAY RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE “SELFISH”SET TO FEATURE AS PART OF THE TIKTOK X ISOL-AID LIVE STREAM ON FEBRUARY 21ST
ANNOUNCED ON GROOVIN’ THE MOO’S NEW FESTIVAL, FRESH PRODUCE, PERFORMING ALONGSIDE, G-FLIP, SPACEY JANE, AND OTHERS
Rising young Australian vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer, Jack Gray today released his first single of 2021 “Selfish”. After it’s premiere on triple j’s Good Nights on Wednesday, “Selfish” is available now at all DSPs and streaming services HERE.
Jack first shared snippets of the track on TikTok attracting upwards of 500K cumulative views sparking viral interest worldwide.
On the single, Jack notes “This song came to life whilst driving and reflecting on how relationships go wrong or just run their path. Sometimes in life, we stay in a situation because it’s easier than facing reality and hurting someone’s feelings. Unfortunately, from the outside, you can be seen as selfish when really, it’s the right thing to do.”
Now with over 15 million collective global streams, “Selfish” follows the success of Jacks previous streaming favourites, including “I Got 3” (which amassed over 3 million streams) and “Winter City”. Jack has played over 200 shows in the last couple of years, touring globally, performing his own solo shows and supporting artists such as Mahalia, Maisie Peters, Dean Lewis, Ella Voss and E^ST.
Jack Gray sings with a seemingly effortless intimacy, his easy-going demeanour often belying the relentless work ethic and attention to detail that goes into each of his tracks. Calling to mind contemporaries from Dominic Fike and Clairo to Rex Orange County and The 1975, his productions show little regard for traditional distinctions between acoustic and electronic elements, frequently combining both into an ambitiously modern blend that feels instantly familiar and boldly adventurous all at once.
Following on from most recently supporting Gordi in Brisbane and Byron Bay, Jack is also confirmed as part of the TikTok x Isol-Aid virtual live-stream performance series on February 21st at 5:00pm AEDT, as well as named on the line-up for the Fresh Produce festival show in Townsville, QLD on Friday 13th August.
Jack has been busy writing and is currently finalising songs for his first album, which is due out later this year. “Since I can remember I’ve dreamed of releasing my first album, I cannot wait. My favourite artists always released albums, it’s a body of work. It tells a story.”
