THE UNKNOWNS ANNOUNCE NEW SHOWS + SINGLE 'MILLENNIAL ROCK' + DEBUT ALBUM OUT TOMORROW VIA BARGAIN BIN RECORDS
On the eve of the release of their debut record, Sunshine Coast rock trio The Unknowns have delivered their new single 'Millennial Rock'. The band will also officially launch their new album, Nothing Will Ever Stop, at the Zoo in Brisbane on Dec 4 and will back it up with another show at Vinnies Records on the Gold Coast on Dec 5.
A nostalgic riffing beast that throws back to the glory years of rock’n’roll, 'Millennial Rock' is the soundtrack to our collective disappointment that life today isn’t exactly how it was depicted in Back To The Future. Instead of flying cars and self-tying shoe laces, we've copped a pandemic, so fittingly The Unknowns donned protective boiler suits and riffed out on a roof top on a stiflingly hot Queensland day to bring 'Millennial Rock' to life.
Vocalist/guitarist Josh Hardy dives in further: “'Millennial Rock' about being born on the cusp of a new millennium and growing up realising the movies lied to us. Where’s my hover board and robbo dog, ya bastard? The film clip was captured and directed by the very talented Tom Shulte, who also filmed 'Waste My Time'. We all decided to wear coveralls on a stinking 35 degree day as a statement due to current events (Conny V, as we call it here in Toowong) just to be as safe as possible from possible infection.”
The Unknowns debut album is chock full of authentic rock’n’roll tempered with a fresh punk attitude set to reinvigorate the scene they live in. Driven by their passion for timeless music expressing honest emotions, the band delivers an unassuming simplicity to sharing their truth through bursts of garage rock/power pop. On the stage, the trio perform with the kind of freedom and vigour that gets feet moving and has seen them tour across Australia with Ed Kuepper (The Saints), Frenzal Rhomb, Clowns, Pist Idiots, The Growlers and fellow Sunshine Coast trio The Chats.
