WILL HYDE REVEALS HEARTFELT THIRD SINGLE “over u.” + ANNOUNCES DEBUT EP “with u in mind.”
2020 is becoming the year of will hyde; the breakout pop artist is following up his first two singles “easy for u.” and “meant to be.” with a third track titled “over u.”. Imbued with will’s now-trademark open-hearted honesty, “over u.” takes an acoustic direction that evokes comparison to the likes of Rex Orange County. will has also announced his debut EP “with u in mind.”, set for release in October this year via Pack Records..
“when i wrote this song i had been away from home for quite a long time,” said will. “that space had given me a lot of time to think about everything. including the past. i noticed there were certain relationships that i was holding onto & it meant that i was not being present. the only times i was present was when i was in the studio. that’s the only time i could really enjoy…
so i got out of the shower one morning before a session with liam quinn, and had a melody in my head - the chorus of what would be ‘over u.’. in the second verse i really am just sort of stating the frustration i was feeling - like, ur driving me insane. i’m driving me insane. the way i got full clarity was using this song as a point to be like, okay, i’m gonna start making sure i’m bringing myself back to this present moment now. i gotta make a change and stop thinking about these relationships in my life."
will hyde’s first solo release, “easy for u.” immediately generated excitement from pop tastemakers around the world, including triple j Unearthed, Project U TV, PileRats, Forte Magazine in Australia, and international publications such as Wonderland Magazine (UK), Variance Magazine (US), Ones to Watch (US) and Clash Magazine (UK).
“easy for u.” was closely followed by the funky, 80’s-infused dance track “meant to be.”, premiered by triple j’s Home and Hosed. The bonafide banger firmly placed will hyde at the centre of a new DIY-pop revolution.
Developing beyond his teenage producing project SŸDE, will hyde has emerged as a fully-realised solo artist. “Taking the emotion out of a song is the most important bit,” he has stressed. Each release draws you deeper into his world, which has been built by laying all the broken pieces on the table, before slowly gathering and rearranging them to create something positive and new. At only 20, will’s music glistens with texture and a relatable balance of joy and melancholy that his early ventures couldn’t evoke on their own.
“over u.” is only a taste of will hyde’s debut EP, ‘with u in mind’, to be revealed on October 23rd 2020, via Pack Records.
“over u.” is available to stream on all platforms now.

Praise for will hyde:
“Australian pop auteur will hyde is only just out of his teens, yet the songwriter's youth belies his driven experience… His sound - a Venn diagram of left-field R&B, lucid electronics, and mutant pop - is nigh-on irresistible, and he's set to prove it in 2020.” - Clash Magazine (UK)
“Bringing together shimmering synths and enthralling vocals, Hyde explores clarity in relationships against stripped-back instrumental.” - Wonderland Magazine (UK)
“In the enchanting, synth heavy single (“meant to be.”), Hyde lets us in on a piece of his personal love life and the heart break he's endured… Hyde steps up his game production-wise with "meant to be." and proves himself as an emerging artist ready to take the reins in this industry.” - Ones to Watch (US)
“Having firmly announced himself as an artist to watch with his well-received debut single, fast rising Australian newcomer will hyde continues his hot streak with stellar sophomore offering “meant to be.”. Laying dreamy vocals over gorgeous production, the track builds to an earworm chorus that will stay with you long after the first listen.” - Vents Magazine
“It's an entrance into a lo-fi, bedroom-pop-esque sound, with a stripped-back instrumental laden with shimmering synth work and plucking guitar work forming an underlay for Will's vocals… undisturbed in the spotlight.” - PileRats
“Perfect debut… an extremely ideal first moment which has the crisp production you’d demand from Troye Sivan, with the vocal strength of a Ruel or Sam Fischer, without imposing on any of those artists’ individuality.” - Project U TV
“‘easy for u.’ is a groovy alt-pop moment that reflects on giving more in a relationship than you receive… Mature, reflective and joyous…” - Thomas Bleach
