WEST SET RESCHEDULED TO THURSDAY 19 – SUNDAY 29 AUGUST 2021
WINTER. TUNES. WESTSIDE.
In line with health announcements, The City of Maribyrnong has made the decision to reschedule the upcoming edition of West Set to August 2021. The beloved winter warmer series of live music events was set to take over the inner west across nine-days this June, but after consultation with local artists, managers and venues the festival has decided to postpone. As per Regional Victoria, a ‘snapback’ will come with significant restrictions being placed on venue capacities, thus reducing the festival’s mission and impact, which is to support the recovery of local hospitality venues in The City of Maribyrnong. The safety of West Set artists, venues and audience members is paramount, and for this reason, the decision was made to shift the festival to the new dates of Thursday 19 - Sunday 29 August 2021.
“The West Set music festival aims to not only showcase performers but to also attract visitors to our city to boost our local business. While it’s unfortunate the current COVID climate has impacted the original dates, rescheduling will mean we can still support our traders when the current restrictions lift..
We’re also here for our local artists, who are among the first affected and the last to come back after a lockdown, and will look at other opportunities for further programming to support our artist community.
Those interested in West Set updates can find out more by following @westsetfest.” – Cr Michael Clarke, Mayor of Maribyrnong City Council
West Set is thrilled to support the recovery of live music and local traders in Footscray and assist a safe and thriving reopening of Melbourne’s west. Participating 2021 West Set venues include:
- 2021 Festival Club and best kept secret, Baby Snakes
- The newest member of the Cherry Bar and Yah Yah’s family, Hotel Westwood
- Yarraville’s acclaimed creative hub, cafe, bar and bandroom, Kindred Studios
- Underground beat specialists Counterweight Vinyl
- Barkly Street hotspots Sloth Bar, Littlefoot, Jambo, The Cheeky Pint and Small French Bar
- Hopkins St favourites Corner 90, Pride of Our Footscray and Footscray Hotel
- Westside watering hole, Victoria Hotel from the team behind Fitzroy’s Builders Arms
- Hyde Street’s stunning Bluestone Church
These venues will host a massive lineup of local talent, reinvigorating the west’s live music scene and hospitality industry. Footscray’s unique venue density makes it the perfect location to host the festival with all 14 participating venues within walking distance of one another, and just a hop, skip and a jump from Footscray Station. West Set would like to assure all tickets for the Angie McMahon and Maple Glider at Hotel Westwood, as well as any Eventbrite Registrations to the free events, will be honoured with entry to all rescheduled shows. The festival is working to retain as much of the programming as possible and more announcements to be made soon.
Stay tuned and most importantly, Stay safe!
