VIJI ANNOUNCES DEBUT EP ‘ARE YOU IN MY HEAD’ OUT NOVEMBER 13 ON DIRTY HIT + SHARES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO FOR ‘UNFAIR’
“As the grunge-y guitars ring out the hook-laden verses fly” – The FADER
“London-based singer-songwriter Viji’s debut single ‘Cherry’ is a bittersweet indie pop track that contrasts grungy guitar chords with bright synths.” – NME
Today Austrian-Brazilian London-based singer-songwriter Viji announces her forthcoming debut EP Are You In My Head, out November 13th via Dirty Hit. The EP was co-produced by Viji and features her debut single “Cherry”. To celebrate the announcement she shares brand new track “Unfair”.
Viji says, “Unfair is definitely one of my favourites off the EP. It’s my 90’s grunge dreams coming true. The song is about someone I used to work with, who’s had everything handed to them but is without a clue what to do with it. There’s a vulnerability in growing up with wealth but no direction. It’s a song for unlikely outcasts, good or bad. I was drenched in water 90% of the video and the shoot included breaking into and getting chucked out of swimming ponds at night.”
Viji, real name Vanilla Jenner, was a multi-instrumentalist by the age of seven after an early introduction to music from her instrument builder father. She creates imaginative and original music that crosses the worlds of alternative pop and lofi indie weirdness.
