MONSOON MOON ANNOUNCES SELF-TITLED EP; SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘GOLDEN GOOSE’
Following the release of his bright new single ‘Golden Goose’, Perth’s Monsoon Moon shares his much anticipated self-titled debut EP. The Monsoon Moon EP is a fitting snapshot of the artist Shaun Pickett is developing into beneath this solo spotlight, having established himself on stages in Australia and internationally as part of Command Q in previous years.
The six track collection of music sees Monsoon Moon flexing in an electronic-pop field, expanding on sonic foundations introduced to listeners across not just ‘Golden Goose’ but also on 2019’s ‘Can’t Let Go’ and ‘Just Friends’. With the EP, Monsoon Moon plays with tone and texture, while demonstrating a well-honed knack for bringing more indie influences outside the electronic realm into his scope of production.
Recorded at Digital Bath Studios in Perth, Monsoon Moon brought the full EP together on his own, producing, mixing and mastering the final product himself. EP opener ‘Get Lazy’ is a banging example of the fun vibe ever-present on the Monsoon Moon EP, hopped up on glitchy beats and melody. Throughout, Monsoon Moon works in and out of warped rhythms and catchy vocals (‘Bus Ride To Heaven’, ‘Manufacturing A Monster’), prompting similar atmospheric vibes of the likes of SAFIA, alt-j and PNAU to come to mind.
PRAISE FOR MONSOON MOON

X-press Magazine
“...a track that balances thick, electronic production with a vocal sway that seems to be highlighted by the bustling beat underneath.”
Pilerats
“It feels like being on a swing and you keep getting higher and higher and then you do the full loop-de-loop!”
