Kuya James is blazing a path of recognition for the culturally rich community of Asian-Australia and this time Emily Wurramara has jumped on board to lend her incredible voice and shine a light on her Filipino heritage.

Trust ft. Emily Wurramara is the sophomore single from Kuya James and offers the self-confidence of two industry leaders at the top of their game inspiring listeners to know their inner strength, let loose and have trust.
The pair have known each other for years but first worked together last year on Mambali’s incredible single Yuwani. After connecting over their shared childhoods spent in the Northern Territory and swapping stories of Filipino fathers, they decided they needed to continue to work together.
"Emily has this incredible ability to hold this powerful intensity while maintaining this uniquely soothing quality. After hearing her spoken-word tone on Mambali’s track Yuwani, I knew I had to explore that sound across a whole song," said Mangohig.

Before emerging under the moniker Kuya James (Kuya being the Filipino word for ‘older brother’), James Mangohig has been one of Australia’s most sought-after producers and songwriters, from his early days of playing bass in TZU, through the electronic soul duo Sietta in 2008 before going on to produce some of the latest Caiti Baker, Stevie Jean and Tasman Keith.

Kuya James is here to set dancefloors alight, but more importantly use his decades of experience to put an Asian face in Australian mainstream culture.
"As I entered the Australian music scene, I felt like an outsider. My life was changed when I saw Quan from Regurgitator on a festival stage and it was the first time I thought that people like me had a place in our music culture. The same thing happened watching DJ conDexter killing it behind the decks with The Avalanches and then finding out he was a fellow Filipino," said Mangohig.

"This might be a new project but once you hear it you’ll know Kuya James is far from new to the game. The production, sounds, layers and flavors here are courtesy of a total prop."Declan Byrne - triple j-
