PHI11A RELEASES HIS LATEST SINGLE 'RIOT'
After kicking off 2021 with collaborations alongside Stan Walker and Australian drill artist, MLBRN, as well as making his festival debut at Yours & Owls, Phi11a returns with his recent project ‘Riot’.
The introspective emo-trap single, which will be supported with Phi11a’s first headline tour, once again demonstrates the emerging artist’s versatility as he croons over melancholy guitars and immersive 808s.
On the inspiration for the track, Phi11a taps into something everyone can relate to “You miss your bus, didn’t have time to get a coffee, girlfriend dumped you, someone bumped you and didn’t apologise, someone cut you in line, $7.00 in your account and microwave meals are $9.00, then you realise you’re a week late on rent. What are you gonna do?.. RIOT!"
In support of his new single, Phi11a announced that he’ll be embarking on his first headline tour this June, which will see the upcoming rapper perform 5 dates on the east-coast.
‘Riot’ follows ‘I Try’ and ‘Dirty Dancer’, the latter of which being co-produced by U.S. super-producer Scott Storch (Beyonce, Dr. Dre, Roddy Rich, Megan Thee Stallion).
In under 2 years, Phi11a has solidified himself as one of the most exciting hip-hop voices to come out of Australia. His breakout out, Supah Mario (Drake, Young Thug) produced, debut single ‘Overdose’ was followed up with a surprise mixtape with emo-trap royalty, Jimmy Duval (XXXTentacion, Lil Pump and Ski Mask the Slump God).
The mixtape laid the blueprint for ‘Witness’, the second official single from the Australian rapper which featured the iconic, Trippie Redd. The release went onto amass over 4m streams and receive praise from Clash Magazine, NME, Rolling Stone, TRVP, Mixtape Madness, Sniffers, Montreality and the biggest hip-hop blog on Instagram, RapTV. The official video for the track was also premiered by U.S. hip-hop tastemakers, Lyrical Lemonade.
Singles ‘I Try’ and ‘Dirty Dancer’ continued to garner Phi11a attention with support coming from the the likes of No Jumper, DJ Akademiks and Our Generation Music to name a small few.
With ‘Riot’, Phi11a once again reminds fans of his talent to create an addictive hook, and show off his patented lyrical approach that few can hold a candle to.
