Today, The Sunday Estate share their brand new powerhouse of a single ‘Fight Me’ (out now via Mirror Records) alongside an edgy, one-shot monochromatic visual directed by Dane Wang. ‘Fight Me’ encapsulates the band's post punk influence with emotionally charged lyricism and driving guitar hooks. The Sydney five-piece have also announced they will be hitting the road to perform a handful of shows across New South Wales in August, heading to Wollongong, Newcastle and Sydney.
Lead vocalist Conor O’Reilly explains how the lyricism behind their latest single came to be, “Fight Me is a song about fighting for the people and things that you love and care about. Life has its ups and downs and navigating them can really be quite disheartening on many occasions. In my own life, when things get tough, I have wanted to give up on certain relationships, or things I am working toward, but I think deep down I knew I had to fight for it all no matter what”.
2021 is looking to be one of The Sunday Estate’s brightest to date with previous single 'Pray for Rain' gaining international airplay on Beats 1 and KCRW alongside a sold out single launch at Waywards. They’ve also recently signed to Tash Sultana's booking agency Lonely Lands, performed live on Twitch for It's A School Night and will be supporting Death By Denim at The Lansdowne on 5 June.
Formed in 2018, The Sunday Estate spent the year perfecting their craft, before they took to the stage in 2019 as they grew in confidence and size. 2020 saw the release of three songs, I Don’t Want to Be Alone, Give Me (Something) and Let’s Stop Pretending, the strength of the tracks largely in frontman Conor O’Reilly’s voice, his depictions of the intimacy of home life and the trials of childhood and young adulthood. Following the growing buzz surrounding the band and their heaving live shows, The Sunday Estate signed to indie tastemaker label Mirror Records, becoming part of the Mirror Music Group family, who have represented the likes of Gang Of Youths, Middle Kids, Clea, Sloan Peterson and Charlie Collins.
‘Fight Me’ is the next exciting taste from a band who are only just getting started, and who’s talent and dexterity are simmering under a very exciting musical surface.
