Seasoned Aussie outfit Immigrant Union are gearing up to release their forthcoming third album Judas and have locked down the album’s release date for Friday 19 June. Ahead of the LP’s release which will be made available via Cheersquad Records & Tapes, the band are celebrating with a brand new video for their latest lifted single ‘Soldier Field’.

A poignant track that ebbs and flows through the outfit’s distinct alt/folk/country tropes with a strong psychedelic footing, ‘Soldier Field’ follows in the wake of Judas’s previous lifted singles ‘New Win’ and ‘Jewels In The Sky’ in a trifecta of easy listening tracks that emphasise the depth of Immigrant Union’s songwriting and seasoned musicianship.

The new video out today, features the band’s latest lineup of Brent DeBoer (The Dandy Warhols), Bob Harrow, Peter Lubulwa, Ben Street and Paddy McGrath-Lester at Victoria’s stunning Pink Salt Lake in Dimboola. Presented through a defiant grayscale lens, the minimalist self-directed clip perfectly embodies the track’s soft, melancholic undertones, enveloping DeBoer’s deep rumination in one smooth, slick trip.

Check out the music video for ‘Soldier Field’ below.

The video was shot at Pink Lake, halfway between Melbourne and Adelaide. It was shot by me and Peter (Immigrant Union keyboardist) in one sweeping unedited take. We handed the camera off to each other back and forth. We shot on my Sony a6300 on a little stabilisation gimble thing. Other than the price of the camera, the video was shot on a $0 budget. I really like the way it turned out. Pink Lake is such a beautiful location. However, we all forgot sunscreen and paid the price in the most epic way." - Brent DeBoer, Immigrant Union

In their decade or so of existence, Immigrant Union have toured extensively both domestically and internationally, playing festivals and club shows across the globe throughout their various member rotations, including an original lineup with Courtney Barnett and co. Having toured with such bands as BRMC, The Lemonheads, Noel Gallagher, Sebadoh and Wolfmother to name a few, the band have built a dedicated fanbase following the success of their acclaimed sophomore album Anyway in 2015.

In addition to the release of Judas this June, Immigrant Union will also be putting out a short film, ‘The Battle of Bella’, shot in Joshua Tree, CA and written and directed by acclaimed indie filmmaker, Mike Bruce. An LP visual accompaniment of sorts, the film will star Immigrant Union bandmates Bob and Brent with music from Judas as the soundtrack, so keep an ear to the ground for what is sure to be one for the history books.
