FOREVER RENTER RELEASE VIDEO FOR DIRTLIFTER AND ANNOUNCE WISTERIA EP LAUNCH HOUSE PARTY AT 1880

forever renter is a ‘sad girl post-punk’ band. With gritty basslines, unnerving guitar and angelic vocals, the newly formed four-piece is unlike anything else you’re likely to find in Melbourne. Their debut single ‘Dirtlifter’ is out through Common Cult now, with their three-track EP Wisteria to follow on December 9.

Written while singer/bassist Hayley Francis was watching a vacuum cleaner infomercial, ‘Dirtlifter’ is a bittersweet break-up track about losing love but finding freedom. You could say it’s about lifting the dirt from your life. It’s the first single from the dynamic EP Wisteria, which fits many moments of wist and hysteria within its three tracks.

Second track ‘Pins’ follows the love lost trend, addressing strength and vulnerability with fragile verses and luscious choruses, while final track ‘A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night’ changes tack with an urgent message and driving bass hook. Written in light of the recurring horrors that come with simply being on the street (or even at home) as a woman, the track was inspired by an Iranian film of the same name in which a skateboarding vampire girl tracks down predatory men (must watch!). With a new line up including Echota Nadin on guitar, Julia Cobbett on synth and Hayley Evans on drums, the band recorded Wisteria in October with Edvard Hakansson. The EP was mastered by Malcolm Besley.

The video for Dirtlifter is a spectacular array of neons, flowers and grand expanses of desert. Directed and edited by Hayley Francis, it was shot between Melbourne, Los Angeles and Death Valley. Videos for the other two tracks will be coming in the new year.
