EAGLEMONT 'HETERONORMATIVE NIGHTMARE' MELBOURNE SINGLE LAUNCH 30 NOVEMBER THE GRACE DARLING BASEMENT
Eaglemont relives her biggest light-bulb moment in naughties throwback video for ‘Heteronormative Nightmare’ + single launch
“Eaglemont manages to dust all their tracks with a coating of introspection, relatability and nuance.” – Dave Ruby Howe, triple j unearthed
“a rattling jingle jangle rocker of a song that’s both raw and romantic, both tender and obsessive.” – Turn Up The Volume, Belgium
Taking the local scene by storm, rising Melbourne artist Eaglemont creates witty jangle rock that explores personal life, sexuality, and relationships through anecdotal anguish and the power of retrospection. Her latest tongue-in-cheek chronicle ‘Heteronormative Nightmare’ is one of the greatest embodiments of this, detailing an awkward yet formative moment in time where brainchild Bridgitte Jessop comes to the humbling realisation of her own homosexuality.
Teaming up with Melbourne film darling Nick Mckk with art direction and assistance from Grace Goodwin, Eaglemont shines as the lead role of her own recreated memory, inevitably transforming a homecoming dream into an actual waking nightmare. Cleverly reimagining the entire night of her high school formal within the confines of a Melbourne warehouse, subbing out limos for wagons and high school teens for mid-twenties queers, the clip is as wholesome as it is illuminating, and of course, hopelessly romantic.

“Bridge had the idea to recreate her very formative formal experience, with a limo and all (as it happened originally). This would always have been hard to shoot, getting a limo, lighting it etc. So instead we opted to recreate a memory, an entire night within one room. This way we were able to squeeze the entire experience into one space, and I was able to shoot it in the Gondry'esque one shot story telling way I love.” – Nick Mckk
Off the back of a massive National tour supporting Bec Sandridge last month as well as a bunch of recent shows opening for Cash Savage and The Last Drinks and Rya Park, Eaglemont is rearing to launch the new single this week! Having already welcomed ‘Heteronormative Nightmare’ into the world with launch shows in Kyneton and Ballarat, come and join this artist on the rise as she takes over The Grace Darling Basement on Saturday 30 November with support from Georgia Knight, Rin McArdle and Porpoise Spit for a night of queer energy and fuzzed out rock n’ roll.
