Amongst other projects and their respective solo endeavours years ago, Antonia, David and Felix came together to form GAUCI as a project amongst family and friends. Seemingly casual expectations soon shifted into a driving force to create, strengthened by their collaborative bond. Through their trust and dedication to strengthen their craft, the trio have steadily worked to carefully curate their debut.
Now with the arrival of their EP GAUCI, the producers stand today as confident masters of their technique and a vision fully realised. Joining previous single 'Heartbeat' that saw GAUCI immerse themselves into hyper pop terrain, is the cinematic synths and 808s of enduring favourites 'To Save A Moment' and 'Paradise'. The ghostly chords of 'Anxious' will see its official release for the first time alongside the nineties rom-com dowsed 'November'.
Championed locally by FBi Radio alongside Noisey, RUSSH Magazine, Bandcamp and more, GAUCI's stream of brooding electronic pop has been built through production that is palpably analogue with a contemporary, widescreen definition, both live and to tape, stamped with a burning desire to dance. Indebted to nostalgia over revivalism, infused with the undeniable groove of Dua Lipa, the fervency of Angel Olsen and The 1975, swept up with the imaginative splendour of Yves Tumor.
GAUCI build textured worlds through tornadoes of emotion, earnestly narrating ones deepest insecurities to the most tender of moments. Over the EP's tracklist, the result is a sound uniquely their own that evokes the sense of courage feverishly plucked, whether it be to commit a romantic gesture or confront another, met shortly after with the release that comes with letting all inhibition go. Their self-titled debut welcomes us to the tip of the GAUCI sphere, cementing the group as auteurs of their genre.
