CLIO RETURNS AS ETHEREAL AS EVER WITH NEW SYNTH-FUELLED POP BALLAD ‘SLOW BURN’ + SINGLE LAUNCH SHOW

Accomplished musician Clio Renner is back with new solo material on the gorgeous track ‘Slow Burn’. Following from her previous single ‘Silly Girls’ released earlier in the year, ‘Slow Burn’ captures the essence of Clio’s exquisite songwriting with a few added expansions along the way. Clio is gearing up to launch the new single with a free show on Friday 29 November at Coburg’s Post Office Hotel in Melbourne.

Teaming up with producer Lawrence Folvig (Ainslie Wills) ‘Slow Burn’ steers Clio’s music into previously unexplored synth-pop territory whilst maintaining her signature heavenly harmonies and delicate refrains. Out Thursday 14 November, the song is yet another Clio delicacy that explores notions of love, loss and acceptance through captivating poetics and the utmost honesty.

“Written from the perspective of a close friend who was struggling to let go. Knowing that forgiveness and acceptance takes time is one thing, it’s the waiting that kills us. For me it also coincided with a different sort of waiting, or my unwillingness to wait for that matter. Either way, life’s too short! I co-produced this with Lawrence Folvig (Ainslie Wills), a collaboration I’m very excited about. The palate of sounds takes my music in a new direction, with brooding synths and layered guitars. Of course it wouldn’t be a Clio piece without a dashing display of vocal harmonies too!!!” – Clio

One of Melbourne’s busiest musicians and the city’s go-to session pianist, Clio has worked with everyone from Angus and Julia Stone, Ella Thompson (The Bamboos, GL), Sui Zhen and Olympia to Deborah Conway, Tim Rogers, Bob Evans, Killing Heidi and more; most recently lending her keyboard skills to Alex Lahey for her epic ‘Like A Version’ throwback on triple j. Since emerging a solo artist with her debut EP Something Left To Leave Behind last year, and receiving a slew of industry acclaim including a 4-star review from Forte Magazine and indie artist of the week by the Australian Independent Record Labels Association, Clio has uncovered a renewed confidence in her own skin.

Now, relishing in the realisation of her own creative power, the seasoned performer is thrilled to be launching ‘Slow Burn’ with a special one off show at The Post Office Hotel on Friday 29 November. Entry is free, so head on down.
