VILIFY ARE BACK WITH THEIR SECOND OFFERING, ‘DEADWEIGHT’
"it reminds me of an act that I used to love in my earlier years called The Bled who really channel a mixture of punk and metal and I think that combination is what makes this one gallop - but it's also quite aggressive and quite seering"
Tommy Faith - Unearthed Top's
"I often wish my phone could be fully charged in just 3 minutes. i feel like if i hooked it to this song it might just be!"
Declan Byrne - Unearthed
"If that's a taste of things to come, Vilify are definitely a band you want to keep your eye on"
Short. Fast. Loud
"Vilify have done an outstanding job with their debut single ... things are looking (and sounding!) very promising if 'Habit' is anything to go by"

Vilify recently made their debut with the single "Habit" - a brutal introduction to the brand new melodic hardcore trio. Today the band are releasing their second offering, "Deadweight", from forthcoming EP 'Clarity' - out Friday December 4!
"Deadweight" premiered yesterday at TheMusic and follows on where "Habit" left off. "Habit" is about addiction - to drugs, to alcohol, to unhealthy behaviour and to being consumed by toxic situations and people. "Deadweight" is about friendship and discovering peoples true colours. Vocalist Amy McIntosh expands on this by saying: "It’s about the journey of discovering the truth in people. It's about being stabbed in the back and being pissed off about it. It's sort of beautifully ironic that a song about toxic relationships was only made possible by our friends. This is our second DIY video shot at home in my lounge room, this time starring some of our nearest and dearest."
"Habit" premiered at triple j Unearthed, had subsequent plays on triple j's Short. Fast. Loud directly after and was one of Unearthed's Top 5 of the Week on release before being added to Unearthed rotation the week after. Following this, Alternative Press included the single in their '50 New Artists You Need To Hear In November' piece, reviewing with: "Cutting screams accompany haunting guitar riffs that make you feel as if you’re in a foggy dream."
Vilify is Amy McIntosh (The Beautiful Monument, Liberties) on vocals, Kieran Jackson (SETMEONFIRE, Liberties) on drums and Deni Hourihan (Cold Era) on guitars. The trio formed as a group of friends who met within the local heavy music scene and connected over shared interests and musical direction.
Together Vilify have been sharing influences and developing their ideas and sound in preparation for the launch of the 'Clarity' EP. These first two singles represent the essence of the upcoming release with its overall theme of self worth. The next chapters explore a diversity in sound and emotional perspective.
"Habit" and "Deadweight" are out now and available on all streaming platforms and digital stores. 'Clarity' will be available Friday December 4.
