Brisbane songwriter Asha Jefferies reveals a dreamy new single ‘Crybaby’. Combining the patience of folk with the urgency of pop, ‘Crybaby’ is Jefferies' most evocative and reflective track to date. The release comes with the announcement of a headline national tour, taking place throughout May.

Taking in venues across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Fremantle, the Crybaby National Tour comes at an electrifying time for Asha as she delves further into her introspective songwriting and artistry. Following her headline dates, Asha will lap the country again as main support on Josh Pyke's national tour, which kicks off in July.

Premiered on triple j Good Nights earlier this week, Asha's new single is about the death and rebirth of a relationship. She explains, "'Crybaby' is about the reignition of my own inner fire and learning how to not hold myself back. I wrote the track with my friend and producer Aidan Hogg (Jaguar Jonze) during quarantine, after a huge writer’s block."

‘Crybaby’ follows on from the success of Asha’s previous releases, ‘Break’, ‘Bad Kisser’ and ‘If You Were My Hero’, which were added to rotation across triple j and triple j Unearthed. Asha featured on Noah Dillon's single 'Knievel Daredevil' and has previously shared the stage with Julia Jacklin, Lime Cordiale and City and Colour. As well as playing festival slots at Bluesfest, Woodford Folk and Mullum Music Festivals.Asha has won a Queensland Music Award, triple j Unearthed's NIDA Competition and has been a finalist for both the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition and the International Songwriting Competition (ISC).
