"A slowburn of an indie punk track, combining some really nice sonic elements! Can defs sense that Weezer influence, we love to hear it." 4 / 5 stars (Pip Rasmussen, Triple J)

"SFOS is sure to bring out the angst in every listener" (Hysteria Mag)

"A slow tempo, anthemic number that gives the parting middle finger salute to an ex-partner moving out." (Heavy Mag)

"Nocturnal Animals pack a punch with their raw alt-rock/punk sound" (Aus Music Scene)

Adelaide's Alt-Rock/Punk three-piece, Nocturnal Animals, came bursting out of the gates after their debut last year releasing 4-singles where they closed it off with the slow anthemic belter 'SFOS' in November. Picking things up for 2021 from where they left it, Nocturnal Animals are releasing their new single 'Articuno Makes Waves' on February 19.

For 'Articuno Make Waves', Nocturnal Animals have uniquely produced an indie-rock track that has been doused with their punk-rock attitude. The upbeat drums and strumming on the guitar paired with bright melodic indie-riffs are quickly contrasted by melancholic sections of rolling drums and a breathy vocal delivery reminiscent of some 90's alt-rock.

Like an emotional rollercoaster, raw anger gets belted out in a chanting, punk-like-fashion, exuding the frustration about a relationship beginning to fail. Dylan Martin explains the meaning behind the track:

"The song is about a relationship falling apart. It was written at the time of the relationship but from the perspective of if it had already come to an end. The chorus lyrics really sums it up but it's that weird situation when you know the relationship is over (or doomed to be) but don't want to admit it yet."

Nocturnal Animals previous releases saw support from Hysteria Mag, AAA Backstage, Heavy Mag, Aus Music Scene. Radio Adelaide, 3RRR, idobi Radio and more.
