Sydney, Australia punk rockers PLANTS show off yet another side to their music with their new single Friend, which is out now on all digital platforms via Riot Records. The upbeat tune sits somewhere between ska and punk and even has a few disco-influenced beats in the bridge.

Bassist Nathan Briggs vocals take centre stage - rough and booming contrasted with the backup harmonies. Friend tells a classic Aussie tale - of a mate who's always late and never returns the favour for a lift home - and yet you still keep around anyway.

The band has also announced their new EP, Vacuumed Half to Deaf which is to be released on February 12th 2021.

The second EP from PLANTS further diversifies the band's sound. The title - Vacuumed Half to Deaf - stemmed from a funny incident in which a cleaning lady began to vacuum the studio live room whilst the band was still tracking. Putting the concept to artist and friend Jaben Betz (Pineapple Stickers Art), the stunning artwork was brought to life and the idea of the EP solidified.

Vacuumed Half to Deaf was recorded in their typical style - the whole band live in the room with no click track, and additional guitars and vocal layers added in post. From the fuzzy stoner rock of Stoned At Breakfast, to upstroking ska-punk tune Friend, or the classic Aussie punk-rock vibes on Say It To My Face - this band is not afraid to show their variety of influences. Lyrically, the bands’ laid-back Aussie humour seeps through in almost every track.

ABOUT PLANTS

PLANTS exploded onto the Sydney live music circuit with a bunch of energetic shows in their first year. A versatile blend of catchy punk rock infused with straight-up Aussie humour has them steadily growing their local audience.

Quickly establishing themselves as mainstays in the rock venues of Sydney and Wollongong, the band has also completed several short tours as far as Melbourne and the Central Coast. As restrictions relax throughout 2020, look for the boys to make their way further afield for shows throughout this great southern land.

The debut EP Songs About Mostly Pubs and Drugs Vol. 2 was tracked at The Pet Food Factory (Jay, Frenzal Rhomb), and released on 1 September 2019.

The accompanying video clip for Burger Brain is the perfect entry point for any new sprouts to the world of PLANTS. The boys have no plans to slow down though, with two more EPs due out in quick succession. Get to a show, grab a beer and get sweaty in the mosh before this band takes off!
