EVAN KLAR DROPS NEW SINGLE & VIDEO FOR 'SPECIAL'

German-Australian alt-pop artist Evan Klar returns with a brand new cut, 'Special', lifted from the forthcoming Blissful Thinking EP, due Friday 11 June.

Drawing on a myriad of influences from house, pop, soul and trap, 'Special', produced by power-house duo Kilian & Jo (Tujamo, Cro, Majan), is an effervescent, addictive slice of alt-pop bliss.

On the track, Evan explains, "Writing either buries me in the dirt or flies me to the moon, it never lands somewhere in the middle. 'Special' takes me to the most confusing but beautiful memory. I think it's about how scary falling in love can be." Featuring 'Special' and his recent single 'Illusions', the Blissful Thinking EP is the result of an unexpected, but in his case not objectionable turn of events. What started as another trip back to his roots at the beginning of 2020, turned into a different kind of journey, as he found himself stranded at the concrete shores of Berlin, Germany with no way out but his music.

Amidst some dark times, Evan managed to channel his sunny Australian mind into the dreamy new EP that lets us escape to a different world reigned by blue skies, puffy clouds and soul-soothing beats. Blissful Thinking is a concentrate of his positive attitude that looks at the bright side of life, rather than pondering on everything that went and will go wrong. And it’s an invitation to follow suit and lighten the mind.

While in Berlin, the Melbourne native now spends all his time producing music for both himself and other artists. With his finger on the pulse, Evan has worked with a new wave of Australian indie-pop artists, including Ainslie Wills, Mallrat, Tyne James-Organ, Essie Holt and Alice Ivy. He recently co-wrote and produced Kate Miller-Heidke’s album Child In Reverse and has collaborated with the likes of Tobias Kuhn (Milky Chance), Konstantin Kersting (Tones & I), Hailey Collier (David Guetta), and Roy Kerr (London Grammar).

Evan's former nomadic lifestyle led him across Europe playing his trade as a session musician for Primary One, Charlie XCX, and Alex Metric, including appearances at Glastonbury, Big Chill, and The Great Escape Festival.

2020 was an exciting year for Evan, signing with German label Groenland Records / Monchique, to release his first single, 'I Do', with radio support from Australia (triple j), Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands. 'I Do' was followed by three further releases: 'Figure It Out' (over 3 million streams) in collaboration with artist and producer Novaa, as well as 'Make The Most Of This' and 'Costume Shop'. Coupled with his refreshing self-made approach to music, Evan Klar has accumulated over 160.000 monthly Spotify listeners.
