SINGLE REVIEW: KNT - FIX MY HEAD
Self proclaimed ‘noodle flavoured noise punx’, KNT, recently released their newest single ‘Fix My Head’, a heavy garage-rock-esque tune about mental health.
‘For fans of Amyl and the Sniffers, Violent Soho, and IDLES’, the heavy track cracks open with immediate drums, heavy guitar and gnarly vocals from vocalist Fuji which track the whole way through, and jumps straight into the bulk of the song. It’s like KNT is reading our minds, with lines like;
‘I’m tryna fix my head, somebody tell me where I am’.
The rather homemade-sort-of-‘backyard-Triple-J’-style music video features clips of manic, nearly chaotic scenes in suburban streets, back alleys and yards, backgrounded with shots of old school computer graphics, human anatomy and…phallic dance moves…? All of that smashed together, along with the caption ‘Enjoy the meme’, makes for one hell of a video, with such bizarre imagery actually rather fitting for the style and meaning of the song.
”It's really about trying to sort out your mental headspace, and having a frank conversation that nobody is 'normal' or perfect, and maybe, sometimes, embracing the crazy can be a little bit of fun!” says lead vocalist Fuji.
The rest of the track itself is a heavy, head -banging, hair-throwing, devil-horns, grungy, raucous expression of, well, noise.
If you aren’t paying attention, the slightly shorter track (coming in at 2m 23s) almost seems to all meld together into one big screaming chorus and finishes before you realise it, so we’re honestly left wanting more.
