SINGLE REVIEW: DEL-SLACKERS - WANT YA
Jack Isaacs is Del-Slackers, a garage-rock project recently founded on the sunny coastal town that is Byron Bay. His debut track, Want Ya, released on April 24, is a promising introduction to his musical journey into the world of surf rock and pop rock.
Formerly a member of Sydney trio, Crushed Tinniez, Isaacs has begun his journey as Del-Slackers with a similar focus - that garage, surf, grunge sound which is gaining a more mainstream foundation these days. I can most certainly hear influences of the likes of The Grogans, Hockey Dad and Bugs with this debut track!
Want Ya greets the listener with cheery, warm and fuzzy guitar tones amidst delightful riffs akin to many surf rock tracks. It’s the type of song that makes the listener want to spend time with their mates! The high tonal body of the strong, consistent drums accompanies the sharp delay of the almost acoustic sounding guitar quite nicely to further shape that surf-rock, DIY sound.
This one makes me want to jump in the car and head down to the beach for a wonderful day in the sun. I’m excited to hear what Del-Slackers has coming in the future!
