Today, Nashville-based singer, songwriter, producer Terry Presume shares his insatiable new single ‘Zaza and Some Runtz (Smoke Break)’  and its companion video. Directed by Spencer Ford (BROCKHAMPTONJAWNYSt. Panther), and shot in South Los Angeles, it captures the mind-blowing nature of the single.

Lined with glimmers of funk and psychedelic rock, ‘ZaZa and Some Runts (Smoke Break)’ further exemplifies Terry’s undeniable ability to master any sonic domain and make it completely his own, and still Terry’s impact is bigger. He creates sounds and worlds that are unrestricted by genres and social norms and thus, forges new spaces for people who don’t quite fit into existing molds. The result is extraordinary. The track follows Terry’s previous single ‘Did Me Wrong’ which Pigeons and Planes claimed as “a powerful introduction to Terry Presume for many people, and it’s just a hint at his versatility”.

Born in Naples, Florida and raised in a neighbourhood called Golden Gate by a Haitian single mother, Terry has overcome more than most with music providing a source of survival and healing. He grew up surrounded by Haitian Kompa music that his mother played for him and the sounds of 50 CentEminem and classic R&B that lined his community. At just 8 years old and a deeply shy kid, Terry wrote his first poem, and by the age of 11 he taught himself to write and produce music - both of which he excelled in and used as a medium to navigate the different cultures and worlds that he straddled.

Following a tumultuous escape to Los Angeles with nothing but a dream of “success” and $200 in his pocket, he ultimately doubled down on his music and his own sense of self, resulting in a body of work that is led by his emotions and lived experiences - not genres. Terry bares every facet of himself with an unquantifiable depth and gratitude, honouring his pain, sorrow, heartbreak and newfound enlightenment, unlike what is often seen in music today.
