WOODES PUSHES BACK ALBUM DUE TO COVID DELAYS, WITH NEW RELEASE DATE SET FOR NOV 13, DROPS NEW SINGLE ‘DANCING IN THE RAIN’

Due to a series of complications from the Victorian COVID-19 lockdown, in particular the delay of the Vinyl production and a series of other creative elements, Woodes has unfortunately had to push back her album release date from October 2nd to November 13th.

The decision wasn’t easy, but this now means Woodes can use the extra 6 weeks time to make sure the long-awaited debut album she finally delivers to fans is how she always envisioned.

In the meantime, while you wait a few more weeks, Woodes gives you an uplifting new single “Dancing In The Rain” - an extremely fitting song about making the best out of a bad situation.

See below for a personal statement from Woodes.

Hello,

I write to you from the ongoing stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne letting you know I’m pushing my album release date back a few weeks to November 13th.

It’s been a really tricky decision to make, and stems primarily from the vinyl shipping delays with everything going on, meaning it wouldn’t be ready for the release. The silver lining is that this extra time will be really helpful in conjuring up more elements to the accompanying Woodes universe, which has always been very important to me.
The Woodes universe has always partnered other sole-trader artists, creators, independent designers and visual collaborators. This year most of the creative collaboration plans have pivoted and changed. I keep working out new methods where I’m learning new things, and fortunately this extra time will allow for me to do what is hopefully my final pivot, and add a couple more exciting things in before we let go and the whole record is yours.

Thank you to the wonderful people who have supported my record with pre-orders. I have always wanted to make an album, and a majority of this record was finished in my bedroom, where I write this from. It’s been my biggest undertaking as a producer/artist and I’m very proud of it. This album was created with the live show in mind, thinking of us singing along and sharing a communal moment. I miss that so much. It’s very strange to not be able to share that side of it with you yet, but hopefully we’ll be together again soon. Pushing the album back a tiny bit is the best choice right now, thank you so much for your understanding.

This new song ‘Dancing In The Rain' is written about making the most out of a tough situation, finding silver linings for growth and change. I finished it with my bandmate Hayden Francis last June and it's one of my favourites on the record.

Due for release on November 13th, album ‘Crystal Ball’ is a body of work years in the making. In total, Elle wrote 40 songs for the LP, with the bulk of writing taking place during a three-week stint in Los Angeles with Grammy-nominated songwriter/producer Scott Effman.

She also had a once in a lifetime opportunity where she recorded with Alex Somers (the American producer behind one of her favourite records, Valtari by Iceland’s Sigur Ros).

‘Crystal Ball’ is the encapsulation of everything Woodes has been envisioning since her debut; will now be released November 13 via Believe Digital. Pre-orders available here.
