TERRY PRESUME SHARES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO FOR ‘DID ME WRONG’
Nashville-based singer, songwriter, producer Terry Presume shares his striking new single ‘Did Me Wrong’ and its companion video today. Directed by Quincy Banks, and inspired by the classic film Midnight Cowboy, the moving visuals see Terry trekking through city streets reminiscing over lost love. The song showcases his innate ability to effortlessly move through genres with deeply universal emotions and struggles. He’s established a sound completely unique to him, one that is unrestricted and creates new avenues for people who don’t quite fit into existing moulds.
‘Did Me Wrong’ is Terry’s first offering for 2021 and follows his 2020 release of Finding Terry: Compilation featuring fan favourites ‘Sorry Mrs Jackson’ and ‘Don’t Play Yourself’, on which Ones To Watch declare, "Terry Presume is able to effortlessly bounce from one sound to the next without compromising the quality of any of these ideas.”
Born in Naples, Florida and raised in a neighbourhood called Golden Gate by a Haitian single mother, Terry has overcome more than most with music providing a source of survival and healing. He grew up surrounded by Haitian Kompa music that his mother played for him and the sounds of 50 Cent, Eminem and classic R&B that lined his community. At just 8 years old and a deeply shy kid, Terry wrote his first poem, and by the age of 11 he taught himself to write and produce music - both of which he excelled in and used as a medium to navigate the different cultures and worlds that he straddled.
Following a tumultuous escape to Los Angeles with nothing but a dream of “success” and $200 in his pocket, he ultimately doubled down on his music and his own sense of self, resulting in a body of work that is led by his emotions and lived experiences - not genres. Terry bares every facet of himself with an unquantifiable depth and gratitude, honouring his pain, sorrow, heartbreak and newfound enlightenment, unlike what is often seen in music today.
“Playing out like a deeply personal farewell note, the Nashville-based artist is dexterous, switching effortlessly between rapping and crooning over the song's country-inspired production.”
