CHROMEO TEAM UP WITH THE JUNGLE GIANTS FOR INFECTIOUS'6 FEET AWAY (THAT'S HOW I'M GONNA LOVE YOU)' REMIX

Continuing the success of their May 2020 Quarantine Casanova EP, legendary funklordz Chromeo are back with a fresh new remix from the project in support of ‘6 Feet Away (That's How I'm Gonna Love You)’ produced by acclaimed Brisbane indie rock/pop outfit The Jungle Giants.

On the release of the remix, Chromeo shared, “we love The Jungle Giants and this remix takes us back to the glory days of Indie Dance, when we used to tour all the Fuzzy festivals in Australia, hit up afterparties with all our friends and everybody was remixing each other. It's crazy that despite the radical isolation of the pandemic, music can take two bands from opposite sides of the word and make them connect.”

The Jungle Giants’ lead singer Sam Hales adds, "It was a dream come true to work on the ‘6 Feet Away’ remix for Chromeo. I’ve been a massive fan of them for years. I saw them play a show in London a couple years back and they blew me away. They are proven kings of songwriting and production. I spent a surprising amount of time sitting at a piano while making this remix. It was something a little different for me and I’m stoked with the result.”

This remix comes almost exactly a year after the start of the global pandemic, where the original inspiration for Chromeo’s 6 Feet Away” off their Quarantine Casanova EP came about. Soon after the shelter in place orders hit, Chromeo's Dave 1 and P-Thugg cooped themselves up in their Burbank studio. With any and all touring plans cancelled for the foreseeable future, the Funklordz figured they'd cheer themselves up by posting funny little quarantine themed songs on Instragram. Their fans wanted more. They wanted these songs released. So Dave and Pee took two weeks to actually record and mix those jams and, voilà: The Quarantine Casanova EP.

The EP is the first new music from Chromeo since 2018, when their fifth album Head Over Heels was released to critical acclaim. Since then, the duo has kept busy with two years’ worth of shows and more recently, the launch of their very own label Juliet Records, which saw the release of inaugural signee Ian Isiah’s AUNTIE project. This marks a new chapter for the band, and the first time they’re stepping out to produce and mentor other artists.

Chromeo is the Grammy Award-nominated duo of Montreal natives and high school best friends David “Dave 1” Macklovitch and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel. The group — now 15 years into their storied career — rose to prominence with their seminal 2007 release Fancy Footwork, heralding the dawn of the ‘80s electro-funk revival. Their five LPs have been hailed as modern funk masterworks and Chromeo has toured the world over.

Fresh off their 2020 AIR Award (Best Independent Electronica EP for Heavy Hearted 1,2,3,4 AM Remixesand ARIA “Song of the Year” nomination for Platinum-selling “Heavy Hearted,” The Jungle Giants kicked off 2020 with a world tour, covering the United States, Mexico, Japan, UK, Netherlands and France. In fortunate timing, their tour ended in mid-March just before the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the world. With subsequent touring cancelled, Sam bunkered down in the band’s production room in Melbourne and has spent the remaining year writing and recording The Jungle Giants’ upcoming fourth album due in 2021.

2020 single “Sending Me Ur Loving” is already nudging ARIA Gold status in Australia, and is well underway to being added to the pantheon of hits the band has produced over the last decade including two ARIA-certified Platinum singles “Feel The Way I Do” and “Used To Be In Love,” two ARIA-certified Gold singles in “Bad Dream”' and “On Your Way Down” as well as two sold out headline Australian tours. With well over 300 million combined streams worldwide and a rapidly growing international fan base, The Jungle Giants have cemented themselves as one of the biggest independent acts in Australia who have become known for their remixes with acts like Chromeo and San Cisco.
