ADELAIDE SONGWRITER NOSILA MAKES HIS DEBUT WITH THE STIRRING SINGLE ‘SALUD AMOR DINERO’
Music for being alone to, to contemplate to, and hopefully to be understood by. For Adelaide’s NOSILA - moniker of musician/songwriter Simon Hatch - these are just some of the objectives driving his forthcoming debut collection of music.
Today, he introduces himself and his project with the release of ‘Salud Amor Dinero’, the lead single from the EP of the same name, due for release this March. As a first taste of the full record to come, ‘Salud Amor Dinero’ is enticing and stirring in its balance of beauty and melancholy.
Delicate guitar and keys meet gentle percussion and rhythms, as NOSILA’s lyricism dips in and out of feelings of longing, sorrow and nostalgia. Here, the listener is introduced to a creative who is exploring a myriad of emotions through music, not simply as a way of expression but also as an avenue of healing and support for others.
The NOSILA project, created as a tribute to his late sister Alison, has seen Simon use his art as a way to navigate unpredictable emotional territory. Music can be an avenue of escape, and one of self-care and healing for many and for Simon as NOSILA, he has been able to reconcile and come through some tough chapters of his own personal journey, while embracing new and poignant creative ones too
Sonically, ‘Salud Amor Dinero’ thrives in this breathy, guitar pop realm. Space is used and filled beautifully, while the production adds clarity and overall richness to the arrangement and execution. Recorded and mixed in Adelaide, the single saw additional mixing, production and mastering take place at Sydney’s Studios 301.
The creation of ‘Salud Amor Dinero’ has been some years in the making for NOSILA, who has been consistently writing and creating music both in Australia and through travels in South America. The Salud Amor Dinero EP is set to serve as an introduction to two distinct creative personalities NOSILA has been nurturing during this time: a fusion of this gentler vein of classical guitar pop, and electrified rock music with added psychedelic flair.
