Today, Sydney based musician, composer and vocalist Tim Ayre shares his new single 'So Long', taken from his upcoming EP Modern Life out June 16 via Kitsuné Musique. 'So Long' is one of the more reflective moments on the EP - the lyrics, depicting Tim's farewell to his former self, are juxtaposed with bubbly-edged guitar riffs. Previous singles 'California Dreamin'', 'Miami Drive' and 'Mexican Holiday' will also be featured on the upcoming EP.

On the track, Tim details; 'I wanted to write something that felt like it was from the 60s or 70s but also had a modern flip to it. The song is really inspired heavily by Todd Rundgren 'I Saw The Light’ & The Beach Boys 'Surfs Up' at the time. Tobias and I sat down wrote it and produced the track pretty much in a few hours. It's probably the song I’m most proud of on this EP. Writing the lyrics came from saying goodbye to my younger self and the things in the past that have no weight in my life anymore. Maybe it's more about saying 'So Long little Tim, Hello big little Tim'.'

Tim Ayre is a composer, singer and songwriter based in Sydney, Australia. Known for being half of the duet Tim & Jean, Ayre is now pursuing the adventure solo. Influenced by the Beach Boys, the Beatles, the Flaming Lips, Stevie Wonder or Daft Punk, he gathers all these references and encapsulates in his compositions. From his room to the studio, Tim Ayre crafts on his own luxurious dream pop blending guitar, drums, bass and synth that he all master. The result is a colourful yet nostalgic sound that borrows the authenticity of yesterday and turns it into a modern and vintage aesthetic.

Tim Ayre released his self-titled debut solo EP in November 2019 on Kitsuné Musique. Recorded in a Melbourne home studio, it was released to wide acclaim and has since received over 1.24 million streams and seen overwhelmingly positive coverage from radio stations Triple JKCRWBBC1xtra, and publications including Indie ShuffleEarmilk and The Line Of Best Fit. He’s also had support from tastemakers in the space such as RooseveltFolamour and Touch Sensitive. Following the release of the single 'I Want It' in 2020 and recent singles 'Mexican Holiday' and 'Miami Drive', Tim Ayre is shaping up for a big year ahead.
