STELLIE PLAYS WITH THE OBSESSIVE FANTASY OF UNREQUITED LOVE IN NEW SINGLE “I’D HAVE KILLED FOR YOU”

+ Announces Self-Titled Debut EP due August 21st

Stepping out from bedroom songwriter to emerging artist on the cusp of greatness, Adelaide’s Stellie has made her mark as one of the most exciting young songwriters in Australia right now.
Her hypnotic melodies, nostalgic imagery, and charm-filled lyricism have reached the ears of hundreds of thousands of listeners, and launched her career from her bedroom into the spotlight in just 12 months.

Off the back of previous single “How Do We Look So Good?”, which was added to high rotation on triple j, featured across multiple websites and playlists, and solidified her immense talent for songwriting with emotional depth and lush sonic palettes, Stellie today announces her Self-Titled Debut EP due for release August 21st.

Not to leave you waiting, new single I’d Have Killed For You” (out today) is a funky, yet slightly dark and obsessive track which plays with the concept of extreme unrequited love and obsessive fantasy, with a killer bass line.

(Stellie) “Although “I’d Have Killed For You” has a pretty dark underlying theme, it’s probably the most upbeat song on my EP, which is pretty confusing when you think about it - but I kinda love that.”

Co-written with Zach Hamilton-Reeves (Northeast Party House), and produced by Alex Markwell (The Delta Riggs) “I’d Have Killed For You” mixes Stellie’s hazy world of dreamy and cinematic song writing, with Zach’s irresistible groove and melody, and Alex’s hard-hitting, ear catching riffs and bass lines.

(Stellie) “I’d Have Killed For You was ultimately born after a conversation at a bar in Adelaide that we (Zach and Stellie) had both recently played at. Without really knowing, that lit the songwriting fuse and set the scene in my mind as to where I wanted this song to go and what I wanted it to represent.

The song was then taken to
Alex who added his stellar production skills, making “I’d Have Killed For You” the funky, yet slightly dark track it is today.

I never would’ve thought I’d be working with these two amazing producers/songwriters from different parts of the musical spectrum, who each bring their own style, and somehow create a song that perfectly fits into my world - but I’m so thankful that it happened.”
