SLUM SOCIABLE RELEASE NEW SONG 'QUESTIONS', WITH EP DUE APRIL 1 & SHARE NEWS OF BREAK-UP

All good things must come to an end. Or so the saying goes. With that in mind, much-loved Melbourne duo Slum Sociable share a heartfelt message to their fans:

“We've decided to put an end to Slum Sociable.

We’d like to thank you, the fans. We had no idea what this project would become when we released a shitty 6 track EP in 2015. And none of it would have been possible without you. It still blows our mind that people came to our show and let us know when our music has got them through a sticky period in their life. It’s tough to put that feeling into words I think, and we're certainly not eloquent enough to do so. But know that it meant the world to us.

Growing up as huge fans of music, we just thought stuff like playing Splendour In The Grass and The Corner, getting radio play, touring internationally, even going on Rage, we could really only dream of doing shit like that. But somehow, all of that stuff came true. Even ruminating on it now, it's still fucking mind blowing really. Ridiculous.

So yeah. We're excited to move onto the next phases of our careers/ life, and thank you all for your love.

We'll be releasing our final EP on April 1 through Liberation Records, and here's another single off it entitled ‘Questions’, which was written around two years ago, but feels like a cogent final single for Slum Sociable. “

LISTEN: 'Questions' by Slum Sociable

From their break-out debut EP TQ in 2015, to their assured self-titled full-length, to their popular L.I.F. EP, Miller Upchurch and Ed Quinn have proven to be a quintessential pairing. The duo has given us radio gems like ‘All Night’ and ‘Afterthought’ along with fan faves such as ‘Do Something About It’ and ‘Castle’. From the beaches of Melbourne’s south, they have mixed it with the very best, playing the Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festivals locally, plus SXSW and The Great Escape abroad. Throughout the course of their journey, they have accumulated streams of over 25 million across DSPs. They’ve clocked spins on BBC Radio 1, Beats 1 and KCRW, in addition to triple j and community radio locally, and have won praise from the likes of Billboard, NYLON, CLASH, Earmilk, Indie Shuffle, Pilerats and Purple Sneakers. And of course, who could forget their joyous, raucous Christmas show from 2018?

Their new single ‘Questions’ stemmed from a writing session with their good friend Kon Kersting (Tones and I, The Jungle Giants, Mallrat, The Rubens) and was self-produced by Quinn, whose production credits also include 'Dribble' and 'Germs' by Sycco. The final taste of The Street of Dire Needs EP, it follows on from earlier singles ‘Explain Myself’ and ‘You’re In My Head ft. KYE’. Their final EP will be released on April 1, as we bid them adieu with full but heavy hearts.
