RO LETS HER INSECURITIES WASH AWAY WITH THE RAINING NEW VIDEO FOR TO PRETEND

+ is touring this February!

Melbourne’s Ro returned last week with new single To Pretend– a musing on ‘the birds and the bees’, and learning to ditch bedroom expectations and stop pretending.

Now, she let's it all wash away with the rain - in perfectly freeing and emotional new video:

[Ro] “We had so much fun filming this. There’s something so visceral about dancing around on a pier in the rain. My hoodie was sopping wet, my bare legs shivering in the cold, my make-up washed away.

I felt stripped of everything material and mental. I felt reset. To Pretend is about being open and vulnerable, not performing to unrealistic standards. So it was the perfect spot to shoot the music video in.

I used to be scared to open myself up, and be honest about what I wanted, what I needed. I longed for the uncomplicated intimacy that comes with healthy relationships. To achieve that, I realised that I didn’t have to pretend to be somebody I’m not. I only had to be myself.

The music video really embodies this grounded, joyful feeling of self discovery. I’m not even embarrassed of my dorky dance moves. I hope you enjoy x ”

Known for having a voice that can caress you in one breath and carve you apart in the next, Ro turned heads in 2018 with glittery confessional debut “Diary”, and followed it up with empowering mantra on playing the player - “F**ked Up Over You”. Both tracks received impressive acclaim, with press praising Ro for her song writing and ability to layer pop-infused melodies with razor sharp lyrics and combining melancholic poeticism with conversational word play.

With a combined 400k + streams, and airplay on triple j, double j, unearthed, FBi Radio, Triple R, ABC, 4ZZZ, RTR + more, Ro made quickly cemented her place as a story teller and lyricist with a unique perspective.

Returning in 2019 with “Tea Stains” – an understated and intimate duet with fellow Melbourne songwriter Didirri – Ro has spent the last 12 months touring with the likes of G Flip, Kira Puru, Woodes, Little May, Ceres, as well as playing BIGSOUND, Happy Wanderer Festival, Grampians Festival and an upcoming appearance at Party In The Paddock.

A storyteller with the wry disposition of a charismatic introvert, Ro writes 'love songs for those who don't like love songs'; once again captivating listeners with new single “To Pretend” - produced and Mixed by Dave Hammer (Thundamentals, Lime Cordiale, JEFFE) and Mastered by Chris Gehringer (Harry Styles, St. Vincent, Chvrches), and available on all digital streaming now.
