REDFERN SURF CLUB ANNOUNCE NEW LIVE MUSIC SERIES 'SURF CLUB SUNDAYS' FEATURING MAY-A, TASMAN KEITH, VLOSSOM, PALMS, MINI SKIRT + MORE

Today Redfern Surf Club announce a new live music series Surf Club Sundays, with the first five week instalment presented by FBi Radio and in partnership with Create NSW. Running across five consecutive Sundays kicking off May 16, the FREE series dips across a wide range of sounds and aims to provide a regular space for emerging artists to showcase their work to an engaged community, ready to discover new music. Tickets to the event are via Eventbrite and will be first in best dressed on the day. See dates and details below.

Led by Redfern Surf Club owners and live music lovers Yannick Maslard (ex-Oxford Art Factory) and Jade New (ex-Future Music Festival, Secret Sounds), the series fulfills their vision of showcasing the versatility of the space in hosting free and regular music programing while fostering a healthy creative community. Situated on the sunny corner of Botany & Henderson roads, the Redfern Surf Club stands as one of the few live music spaces in the area with the capacity to cater to emerging artists, particularly in a post lock-out-laws Sydney. Of the series, New shares, "Having live music at the Surf Club has always been part of our long term plan and feels really natural in the space. The music community embraced us from the start, so we're excited to get these shows happening now and in the future."

Kicking off the series next month will be Byron-come-Sydney-sider MAY-A who has within the span of just three singles, 'Green', 'Apricots' and 'Time I Love To Waste' and a sold-out debut tour, confirmed her position as part of the new vanguard of Australian pop. She will be joined by Liyah Knight and D’Arcy Spiller. Rapper Tasman Keith heads the second event alongside Ms Thandi and Mi-Kaisha on May 23. Keith joins the series off the back a busy 12 months including the release of his debut mixtape, latest single 'ONE' with Kwame and an extensive tour run with Midnight Oil across the Makarrata Project.

Byron Bay band Mini Skirt are sure to blow the roof clean off the Surf Club with their May 30 bill. Promising a dry, stinging take on garage rock, the band will be joined by Research Reactor CorpSatanic Togas and eastern beaches newcomers Gully Days. With their debut EP, a Like A Version and killer live shows under their belt, Nick Littlemore and Alister Wright aka Vlossom join the series for a night of experimental and futuristic electronica, with Kult Kyss, and KYVA on support duty this June 6.

The final instalment of the series will fall on the June long weekend and include a stacked line up of bands and DJs that will run late into the night. Headlining the event will be beloved Sydney band PALMS following the release of their warmly embraced Intensity Sunshine EP, as well as buzz band Royel OtisRuben NeesonTild, The Blamers and DJs.

The first instalment of Surf Club Sundays is proudly presented by FBi Radio and made possible by Create NSW Play the City Grant, from which Redfern Surf Club are reinvesting all funds directly back into the music community including artists, production companies, sound engineers, photographers and crew.
