RACKETT RETURNS WITH BOLD NEW HIT OF ELECTRO-POP IN ‘OXYTOXIC’
Returning vivacious and energetic as ever, RACKETT brings us a hectic single to kick off a new year of music in ‘OXYTOXIC’. Unveiling new pop-driven and experimental sounds last year with ‘Machinations’ and exploring new territory in the live arena in Australia and Japan, RACKETT continues to flourish with ‘Oxytoxic’ - a song focused on desire.
Incorporating trap and dance influences on her latest, RACKETT goes large in the positioning and delivery of lyrics that are equal parts intoxicating and enticing. “Got your kiss, named our kids now, all of my picket fence dreams are making sense.” she sings. “At your address, I’m undressed now, come find me standing outside your parents’ house.”
Co-written with Dave Hammer (JEFFE, Lime Cordiale) in Sydney, ‘Oxytoxic’ is another piece of this new puzzle of creative identity RACKETT has been forming since returning to the fore last year. As RACKETT (songwriter Rebecca Callander) describes, the single comes from a place of undiluted yearning. “The song is about uncontrollably romanticising about a fictional lover and being overcome by desire for someone you don’t even know, but can play the part.” RACKETT
PRAISE FOR RACKETT
“What a flip, this is some manipulated robot pop with a beating, metal heart.”
Triple J, Declan Byrne
“RACKETT like you’ve never heard before! I love how much you’ve evolved. You’ve taken your power and you’ve given it a noisy, creative, futuristic and bangin’ twist. Can’t wait to hear more.”
Triple J Unearthed, Claire Mooney
“Blasting through with the attitude and eccentricity of artists like Robyn and CSS, combined with the beloved 00’s electro-rock sound that’s definitely having a mini-renaissance at the moment, and you get the idea of RACKETT’s zesty new twist.”
Trouble Juice
“A glitchy electro track packed full of weird and wonderful sounds and super tight production.”
Music Feeds
Bringing her music from the studio to stage is an element of the creative process RACKETT thrives on. Where 2019 had her touring nationally as well as internationally throughout Japan, RACKETT’s touring teeth have been well and truly sharpened, with tours alongside the likes of Jack River, The Growlers, DZ Deathrays and The Darkness introducing her to the hunger for live music only satiated by bombastic live performances. February will see her launch ‘Oxytoxic’ on the east coast - get around these shows, she’s only just getting started.
