CC:DISCO! 'First Light' (Vol II)' Out Today

Today, Soothsayer are beyond excited to release CC:DISCO!’s First Light (Vol II), the second instalment of her compilation series, available as a 12-track limited transparent orange double LP and digitally (with 12 additional tracks). A certified party-starter, First Light (Vol II) goes from soothing melodic jazzy tones, to disco and electronica before finishing with heavier high-octane productions designed for the sweatiest of dancefloors. With today’s release, comes the captivating video for Italo disco banger ‘Paradise (Special Việt Nam Version)’ by Berlin-based duo, Ca$hminus, which was premiered overnight via MixMag Asia.

Ca$hminus are made up of Australian born producer Eluize (Let’s Play House, Shall Not Fade) and Belgium born Gratts. Directed by Gratts, ‘Paradise (Special Việt Nam Version)' was filmed last year in Vietnam and is an ode to the country, it’s people and its overall special vibe.

First Light (Vol II) acts as an extension to 2018’s Vol I which showcased the best and brightest of Australia and New Zealand’s underground house and electronic scene in a sunrise to sunset sonic journey. Vol II continues this journey but takes it global, drawing on artists and friends that CC:DISCO! has encountered through her journey as a radio presenter and touring DJ, playing festivals such as Oasis, Lost Village, DGTL, PITCH, Strawberry Fields, Glastonbury, Love International and Kala to name a few. On First Light (Vol II) CC:DISCO! features those who have inspired her in some way on her journey, and that hail from all parts of the world.

“With Vol II I really wanted to capture my overall sound and bring artists together from around the world. It’s definitely a body of work you should listen to from start to finish, it’s a natural progression.” - CC:DISCO!

So far CC:DISCO! has drip-fed us belters by Melbourne brothers Donald’s House and Russia’s Lipelis, UK’s Hidden Spheres, Melbourne-duo Steady Weather, Swedish outfit Mount Liberation Unlimited, Spain’s Pépe and UK based Comfy Bella. These tracks have racked up praise from Resident Advisor, XLR8R, Ransom Note, DJ Mag, Les Yeux Orange, 192kb, Backbeat Podcast, Decoded Mag, Clubbing Spain, Find Your Sounds and have led to CC:DISCO! being named a ‘DJ To Watch’ by Soundcloud. The tracks have also seen airplay across NTS Radio, SlothBoogie Radio (UK), Bandcamp Weekly Radio, Triple R, FBi, Double J and PBS, plus adds to global playlists across Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and Soundcloud.

Debuting into the world today is the rest of the compilation’s scorching tracks, including one by an artist that has been a major source of inspiration for CC:DISCO!; Ugandan-born, New York-based Queen of deep house Jenifa Mayanja. A DJ with 20+ years in the industry and an ambassador for women in the underground house community, Jenifa contributes the slinky nu-jazz banger ‘Dawning’ to First Light (Vol II). “I'm honoured to work with someone as talented as Jenifa. Every track she makes takes you into another little piece of her world, it's soulful and authentic every time.” Another standout that premiered overnight on The Ransom Note is the club-ready dance track ‘Life Is A Delight’ by Canadian producer Regularfantasy, another prolific producer who runs a label with D. Tiffany and has graced Melbourne Deepcast and NTS Radio. Joining RegularFantasy and Jenifa Mayanja on today’s release is the Balearic banger ‘Agave Harvest’ by New Zealand-born duo Manuel Darquart (Coastal Haze), a dynamic act that has received support from Stamp The Wax, Ransom Note and Lew Yeux Orange and the only act to feature on both Vol I and Vol II.

First Light (Vol II) is a celebration of the varying shades of dance music around the world. Dive into the compilation today to hear more previously unreleased tracks from artists spanning across Hong Kong, Amsterdam, Indonesia, Germany and Belarus.
